We are so happy to introduce little miss Sahara who joined us on Friday afternoon (thank you so so much to her amazing transport team!). She came in with two of her kennel mates, India and Basil. These three former breeding girls are absolutely adorable. They are the unusual mix of Golden Retriever and Cocker Spaniel - so incredibly cute. Of the three, Sahara looks the most like a cocker spaniel - she has big floppy ears and a compact little body (only weighs 38 pounds)-however, her inner spirit is all Golden. She is just such a love bug - she wants to be by you all the time and follows me from room to room. She is by far the easiest foster we have had in terms of energy level - I would honestly have to say she is rather lazy. This probably comes from her background - I don't think she had a lot to do other than sleep and breed in her former life and was probably not exercised a whole lot. However, she does go on walks with us and she is really good on a leash -no gentle leader for this girl as she stays right by my side. However, if she had her choice, I think she would be perfectly happy sleeping on the couch all day with an occasional outside jaunt to go potty, chase a few squirrels, and sniff around the yard.

Here's what we know about her background - she was a breeding dog and the breeder willingly gave her up to an amazing GS who took she and her kennel mates in, got them brought up-to-date on all shots, spayed them, and just loved them for a few weeks until they could get into RAGOM. She is 5 years old (born July 1, 2006) and is incredibly well-socialized - she loves all people and gets along great with our resident dogs. She does like to stick close by her people. She has not yet barked since we have had her, has not had one accident, and has earned total free roam in our house both at night and while we are gone (probably because we know she won't move off the couch!) . She is spayed, UTD and ready for her forever home.

When thinking about what type of home would be best for Sahara, I think she would thrive in any loving environment. She has not been exposed to cats or small children, but given her personality, I just can't believe that either would phase her in the least. She is, overall, just an absolutely perfect little girl. If you are looking for a smaller golden for your family, Sahara just might be the one for you.
