Welcome to RAGOM Sam!

Sam is a 18 month old Golden/Basset or Beagle/Aussie mix.  He weighs 49.5 lbs and is a very handsome boy.  He's got the eyeliner look of a Beagle, which makes his eyes even more beautiful.

Sam joined the RAGOM family due to his previous family developing allergies.  It was a very sad good-bye today and I really felt bad for the family.  It was clear that Sam was very loved and very well taken care of.  Thanks to Sam's former family, Sam is up to date on his vaccinations.  He will get a microchip this week and he'll be good to go.

Sam lived with kids and a cat and did well with both.  He had free run of the house, was not destructive, and was trained to an invisible fence.

Sam does suffer slightly from allergies and has an occasional ear infection, but all is managed with little effort.

Sam is a beautiful boy - fairly calm too for a 18 month old.  When we got home today, he played nicely with my pack.  Sam didn't wander and if I thought he was getting too far away, I called his name and back he ran.  He knows basic commands like come, sit, and shake.  I understand that he almost has roll-over down pat as well.  He's had one level of obedience training and I know he'll do well with the next level.  Sam is very food motivated, so he'll be a quick study.

I took a couple of pictures of Sam today.  They are not the best and they do no do him justice.  Sam was far too busy today to pose for pictures.  We'll try again in a few days.

I'll write more as I get to know Sammy better.

Dear RAGOM

We said Goodbye to our beloved Sam on Sunday March 28, 2021. He was 14 1/2 years old. We are heartbroken but so grateful for his long, active and loving life!

He filled our home with joy for many years. Thank you RAGOM for the gift of Sam!

We've had Sam for one week today and he sure is a great pup.  He was pretty "busy" when he first came to our house, but has seemed to settle in nicely.  Actually, he has excellent manners for an 18 month old dog.  Tonight, he and Sophie decided to run (as fast as they could) to the field next door to introduce themselves to a herd of deer.  The deer weren't nearly as interested in meeting them and ran off.  Both dogs ran right back to me to let me know that our neighbors sure aren't very friendly.

Sam attended the RAGOM Event at Chuck and Don's in Eagan yesterday and had so many admirers.  Everyone commented on how soft his fur was and how beautiful his eyes were.  Sam is such a good boy - he loves everyone!!
