As a foster, many dogs come through our home on their way to their forever home. Each one touches us a different way and a piece of them always remains with us. When we picked Sam up to bring him home I will never forget his giant tongue hanging out the window getting it all slobbery. Sam had spent quite some time in boarding having his heart worm treated and by the tongue you could tell he was happy and stressed to be out of there. While it has not always been easy with Sam behavior wise he has come a long way. When he first arrived he would chew up picture frames from the wall, things on bookshelves, and anything else he could get to. We finally Sam-proofed the house with gates in front of everything he could get to and over time removed them to test what he would do. He still on occasion dumps the garbage can for leftover Chinese or corn on the cob but we have finally found a Sam-proof garbage can so we are safe for a while. Somewhere in between all his crazy antics he not only stole our dinner but our hearts. He has welcomed every foster dog that has shared our home temporarily, travels with us to Kansas City, and spends weekends camping with our two resident dogs and us. On normal days at home he spends his time wrestling with our resident goldens Daphne and Junior (07-102) and daily pins Daphne down to lick her ears clean. We are pleased to say Sam has found his forever home with us. Thank you so much to his sponsors for supporting RAGOM and Sam through his journey in foster care. Without generous people like you what RAGOM does for dogs that end up without a home would not be possible. Our journey as fosters does not stop with the adoption of Sam. We know he will welcome all dogs that come through our home with open paws and lots of ear cleaning. We also know that no day with Sam will be ordinary because Sam is not ordinary – he is extraordinary.
