Sampson 07-486

Profile

I have the pleasure of introducing you to one of the new additions to RAGOM, Sampson!  Sampson comes to us from South Dakota where he was an unclaimed stray.  Let me just tell you know, whoever lost him, it's definitely their loss and his future family's gain!

Sampson is about 2 years old, very red, and weighs 64 pounds.  Sampson has already been vetted, and is neutered.  He just arrived tonight and one thing we figured out right away - Sampson LOVES tennis balls!  If you are looking for a dog to play fetch with you outside, Sampson might be the guy for you!  However, Sampson is not super obsessed with them - when we had him leave his dirty tennis ball outside, he was just fine with hanging out with us.  No frantic search for toys, no straying to far away from us.

Resident dog Cinder attempted to get him to play with her, but he wasn't interested in her - after all, he DID have his tennis ball!  She'll keep on trying.  :)

Sampson knows his name, and even though it's been a pretty busy day for him (he rode from Sioux Falls to Rochester to Richfield to Plymouth today!), he's very good natured and has been happy to tag along with us.  Sampson knows "come" and "sit."  When we were taking his pictures, we were telling him "stay" and he did....I don't know if that means that he knows it, but he could pick it up quickly if he did!  His new family should commit to taking him to obedience classes to help him be the best he can be!  Sampson listens well and really wants to please - if you start petting him he flops over for a belly rub and his tail is thumping the whole time.

Contact placementatragom [dot] org if you want to meet this guy - don't wait too long!

See how attentive I am?  Foster Mom doesn't even have a ball or treat in her hand!

Here are some new pics of Sampson!  We're in the front yard since Foster Dad is mowing in the back.

Good morning!  Sampson made it just fine through his first night.  He slept in a crate and after about a minute of some little whines, he was just fine in there.  He kept his crate clean and has just been absorbed into our daily schedule.  He's fine with our female dog and doesn't have any issues with you taking away a ball or toy from him.  Cinder thought he was eating breakfast awfully slow and was vulturing around him, and he didn't bat an eyelash at her.

Sampson's just a goofy guy.  He's excited when he's outside and will want to play fetch with you as long as you are out there, but when he is inside, it's like his "off" switch has been hit.  When you start petting him, he snuggles in as close as he can get.  Currently he is laying right by my feet and every time I look at him, his tail starts thumping.  He's already made himself very comfortable here, in one night!  Once you've got his trust, he's your biggest fan.
