Sandy 07-633

Profile

I picked up Sandy this afternoon from ACH in Richfield, where she had arrived a little earlier after being surrendered by a breeder. She came in with 2-3 other dogs.  Sandy's a pretty blond three year old girl, very social, very happy. She's clearly had a number of litters of pups. She's in good shape, and she has ENORMOUS feet! She's understandably a little anxious here this afternoon. She had never been in a vehicle before her transport, and she's been an outdoor dog, so being in the house and maneuvering all of the stuff that's in this house is a new thing for her! She's doing fine with all three resident boys--and I am sure they are happy to have a pretty blond GIRL in the house for the weekend! She has an ear infection in both ears, but she seems to be healthy. She'll be going to her foster home on Sunday, and then I am sure that someone will want this happy pretty gal!

Sandy is now settled into her new foster home and doing great with our two resident dogs and kids ages 7 and 12. She is now spayed, up-to-date on all her shots and received a clean bill of health from follow-up check-up with the vet. As you can tell from the pictures, Sandy is a AKC blonde golden, 67 lbs and a gorgeous face. She has followed all the doggy clues from my resident dogs in familiarizing herself with toys, playing chase and laying on soft doggy beds. This smart girl has had no accidents in the house, shows no aggressive behaviors, comes when she is called and doesn’t jump up.

We are excited that she now realizes humans bring good things and wants to love all the time. She continues to be startled at loud noises and quick movements by humans around her but I am confident this will decrease over time. Since Sandy follows clues from other dogs, she would probably adjust more quickly in a home with another resident dog. She is ready and waiting for her forever home.

Sandy has been here two days now, and she's still a wiggling little bundle of happy. She got a clean bill about heartworm, and she's on her meds for her ear infections so healthwise, she's great. She's about 80 pounds of love! She is doing just great with all of the boys here, including the cat. She was trying to play with Bismarck (07-194) and she follows Moe around like he's The Deal. Last night, I was sitting on the steps outside while the dogs were frolicking, and Sandy laid down on the sidewalk in front of me, completely stretched her hind legs straight our behind her, then stretched her front feet as far as she could, and then looked at me with her big brwon eyes. It looked like she was posing as a pin-up girl, Golden Retriever variety! Then, she just rolled over in the dirt and all the glamour disappeared immediately...

She doesn't much like the kennel; I crated her on the first night, and there was a good half hour of barking before she
settled down, but once she did, she was quiet for almost the whole night. Last night, we let her sleep with the rest
of the pack in the bedroom. She was antsy at first, wanting to get on the bed (but really, how many Goldens can you
have on a bed and still have room for humans?!) She settled down and slept next to the bed all night. When I got up,
she was very excited, but then settled back down when she saw I wasn't going anywhere. Since she has been an outdoor
dog, I was a little worried she might have an accident in the house, but not a one so far! Not even overnight! She hasn't eaten much--she's so excited most of the time that she can't eat, and when I put her in the crate with her food, she gets even more agitated--her tail is wagging constantly and practically tips the crate over! She's a little afraid of the floors, I've realized. I put down a bunch of throw rugs which makes it easier for her, but it's kind of funny to watch her tiptoe across the linoleum and the hardwood floors. She's still a little concerned about the steps but she has navigated them just fine. She's going to be a great pal for somebody and I can't imagine she'll be waiting long. I mean, look at that picture! She's
adorable and she's a sweet, happy, lively gal.
