It is my absolute pleasure to introduce you all to Sandy.  Sandy is a golden mix estimated to be around 8 years old.  Her family had to move into an apartment and had too many dogs to take so they lovingly let RAGOM step in and help.  We want to thank them as we know how hard it has to be to give up a "fur member" of the family.

Sandy went to the vet today and weighed in at a whopping 67 pounds.  He feels her weight should be more like 50-55 pounds so we will be working on that by more walks and less food.  So far all of her tests have come back good but we are still waiting for her heart worm results.

While grooming her last night I did find, what we now know is, a tumor by her rectum.  The Dr. is not sure if it is cancerous but the blood tests make him feel that it is not.  We will be talking with him to see what the best option is for dealing with this.

She came into our house and met our three dogs with no problem.  In fact, seeing them is what finally made her wag her tail.  She does exhibit some puppy mill traits so I think her perfect home would include a fur brother or sister, but we will know better as we get to know her.  She a sweet, sweet girl and so far we have not had any accidents.

She will need to live with someone that is not afraid of a little hair because she has a LOT of it.  And someone that is willing to groom her on a regular basis to keep the mats and tangles from forming again.

We will update you again soon when we have spent more time with her and see what the Dr. has to say.

Here are some pictures of Sandy 09-126, who was placed into her FOREVER home a month or more ago.  She was just groomed in the picture and looks amazing in her summer haircut.  One of the pictures is with her new MOM.  Sandy is a happy girl.

Hello Everyone - It's me Sandy

I know I have not updated my "blog" for more than a week, but I have been on an amazing adventure!  We went to this place called "the lake."  We had a long ride in FD's truck and I slept the whole way.  If there is a dog heaven on earth, I think it is the lake.  The lake is an amazing place where there are lots and lots of people, children of all sizes and shapes, and more critter smells than you could sniff in a lifetime.  I could hardly contain myself and did my little "happy dance." We walked around the whole place visting and catching up on what happened over the winter.  I wanted everyone to pet me and I was very popular, especially with the children.  The children came over several times a day just to visit me and pet me.  Everyone commented what a "beautiful girl" I was and loved to feel my soft fur.  I was so tired after Saturday from wagging my tail I slept so sound that I even snored. FM said she didn't know who snored louder, me or FD.

You won't believe this, but I also met some RAGOM fur buddies, Jonah 09-080 and Miley 08-005, and we had our pictures taken for all of you to see.

I am patiently waiting for my forever family.  FM says I don't have any issues.  There isn't an aggressive bone in my whole fuzzy body.  I truly love everyone from young to old.  I have the "house training" thing down.  FM and FD give me the run of the house when they are home and have been giving me the run of the house while they are gone for several hours.  FD was hunting this past week and I had to stay in the crate for about 5 hours while FM was at work.  FM did come home at lunch time to let me out and then I had to be crated again for 5 hours until she got home from work.  I did great.  FM thinks I could fit into just about any family. I am not very vocal and have only barked a few times.  I would happily share my water dish and food bowel with the resident dog, but FM tells resident dog to keep her nose in her own bowel, although we do drink out of the same water bowel sometimes. I am still on a diet and I am anxious to see if I have lost a few more pounds  which I think I have because of all of the exercise we got at the lake "visiting."  About the only thing I don't know is how I would react to a "kitty", but FM said we could arrange a "kitty test" if necessary.

Gotta go for now, we have to unpack and frankly I need a nap. Hope to hear from someone who is interested in a very sweet senior girl.

Hello Everyone - it's me Sandy

WOW, what a beautiful day!  I have been waiting all winter for a day like today. I enjoyed being outside soaking up the "rays."  We went on a long walk today.  FM says aerobic exercise is very good for "fluffy" girls.  I walk nicely with the gentle leader and I don't mind it too much.  After FM takes it off I do like to roll and itch my nose.  I haven't gotten on the scale since being at the vet, but FM says we will get that done soon to see if I have lost another pound or so.  I hope so because dieting isn't much fun.

I am doing great at the "potty" thing.  No accidents in the house!

FM thinks I am just about perfect.  FM says I have all kinds of adjectives that describe me.  I am sweet, cuddly, flexible, fearless, energetic, funny, soft, bouncy, happy, lovable, fluffy, adorable, etc.

All I need now is a forever home.  Happy Easter.

Hi Everyone - it's me Sandy!

Wow - where do the days go?  I have been busy adjusting to RAGOM life.  FM said I have a new nickname, it's HAPPY FEET.  I do a little four-footed dance when I think I am going to get a treat, when FM gets my dish of food, or when I try to get another dog to play.

FM says I am a good girl and I hardly ever have to be told "no."  I don't get up on furniture and am quite content to lay next to resident dog or near FM or FD. I have had only one accident in the house in the last week. FM and FD have been giving me the run of house when they are home.

My nose does get me into trouble once in a while.  I found a dead mouse in the garage, but I brought it right to FD after he said I couldn't have it.

We were out playing in the snow this morning and I made a snow angel.

With my big fur coat the cold snow feels really good.  I am looking forward to Spring, but with the snow today, I have a few more weeks before swimsuit season to shed the extra pounds.  I do the "stair climber" many times a day so that should help in the exercise department.

FM says anyone who gives me a forever home will be very lucky to have me. If you are interested, please contact your placement advisor. If you haven't already filled out an adoption application, you can do so here.

Hi - It's me,Sandy.  I enjoyed meeting everyone at the Roseville Petsmart Event today.  A special thanks to the Petsmart Groomers who trimmed my feet and nails.  My paws feel so much better.  FM was really proud of me as I greeted everyone, young and old, big and small, with a golden smile and my tail wagging. I especially enjoyed the big hug I got from one little girl. She buried her face in my soft fur and giggled.

Everyone commented about how fluffy I was and that I am a GR mix.  I may not be a PB, but I proved today that I am ALL GOLDEN AT HEART.

I have been busy meeting all the neighborhood dogs. Today I met a senior collie who was walking with his master. As you can see from the picture, my tail is wagging and I am truly happy to meet the neighbors.

I also have a hyperactive border collie who lives next door who wants me to "run the fence."  I bounce up and down, but don't run the fence as the border collie barks a lot.  I love my large fenced backyard and have been exploring every inch of it.  I am still working on the "potty thing" and I am getting better at it all the time.  I am learning to go to the door and ask to go outside.

I have been going on twice daily walks with FD. I don't mind the gentle leader one bit and walked on the leash like I have been doing it all my life. These walks should help in the "chubby department." I got some new food today too which should also help in shedding a few pounds.  Dieting is really hard and I am always "scrounging" for food.  FM offered me some green beans to help fill up my tummy, but I wouldn't eat them.  Who wants vegetables when you can have "treats."

FM says no playing ball in the house, but FD and I play when FM is not looking.

After I chase the ball a few times FD gets on the floor with me and I get tummy rubs which I love.

If you are looking to adopt a cuddly, mellow, sweet GOLDEN AT HEART, I am your girl. If interested contact your placement advisor.

Hello again - its me Sandy.  When I signed off after my last update, I was on my way to take a nap. Here is a picture of me "cuddled up." FM thinks I look like a snuggly Teddy Bear.  I am learning how to be an inside dog again and I am doing very well. Tonight, I went to the door and let FM know I needed to go out to do my duties. FM was very happy and I got doggie treats.  FM has this sign that says "Wipe Your Paws" when you come back inside. I am not too crazy about that, but I let FD and FM wipe my muddy feet.
I also got to help make dinner tonight. FM opened the refrigerator to see what was in there and I found the summer sausage right off. I thought we should have the sausage, but FM said it wasn't part of my diet.  She offered me a carrot, but there was no way I was going to eat a carrot when all I could smell was the summer sausage.  My nose is very good because today I found the shopping bag with "doggie treats" and took them right out of the bag.  I was going to open it, but FD caught me in the act.  DARN!

I also want to let you know I am crate trained. I slept in my crate all last night and FM said I was a really good girl.  So far I have not even barked yet.

Hello Everyone - it's me, Sandy.  I have finally arrived at my permanent foster home. I met my new foster sister and my new foster parents with tail wagging. It was a long car ride, but I did great.  FD says I am really smart, I know sit and down.

I got good news from the vet who removed the tumor on my bottom, it was benign. I will just need to get my stitches out next week. I am heartworm negative, YEAH. The vet did say I am a little on the chubby side. I would disagree that I am chubby, I am just FLUFFY! FM says with swimsuit season just around the corner; we will both have to watch what we eat and make sure we get our exercise.

It has been a long day and it is time to take a nap.

Just want to let you know that Sandy 09-126 will be coming to March 28 Petsmart Event. We are looking forward to meeting everyone.

Hey everyone, Sandy here!!  FM finally got some new pictures of me!  How beautiful am I??

I have been doing well.  My eye looks great and my "bum" is feeling much better!!  No more sleepy medicine for me!

Mom tells me I am going to be moving soon to my permanent foster.  She assures me this is only due to a very busy schedule she has the next couple weeks and has NOTHING to do with me.  She said she could not bear for me to live the way I was living and stepped up as a temporary foster to get me into RAGOM and on to my new life.

Did she tell you how much time it took to get me to this beautiful state I am now in?  But, I love being brushed so I actually kind of enjoyed it.  Maybe not the shaving machine she used but brushing is good.

Are YOU looking for a big, fluffy girl for your house that loves to give kisses and go on walks?  If so, this is your lucky day!!!  Here I am!  I don't really take that much work.....brush me a couple times a week and I am good to go!  I am still working on the outside pottying thing, but if you are patient and take me out regularly, I promise to do my best!

Mom takes me on a walk every night before bedtime.  She says this makes me tired and then I don't fuss when I have to go in the crate.  And she is right!  She makes me go up this big hill by our house and I am moving pretty slow by the time I get to the top of it.....but then again, so is MOM!!  ;o)

Well, I think I will go see what the other dogs are doing.  I will write again soon, but if you would like to know more about me, just contact RAGOM and mom would be happy to talk to you.

TTFN, Sandy
