Sawyer has been with me since Wednesday, after his surgery. He is doing fantastic. This is a SWEET DOG !!! He had some mild puppy mill issues when he came to me. Afraid of loud noises, cars, lamp posts, flower pots to name a few. We have been spending alot of time outside and he just loves the freedom. His favorite thing to do is lay in the grass and watch the world go by and sleep. We have been taking walks around the block so he can see what the big wide world is like. Today on our walk, he passed a black pick-up and saw his reflection. Ha !!! What a surprise - he stood and looked at it and wondered, I'm sure, why that dog didn't want to be friends with him.

This Golden has a personality that just won't quit. He is soooo loving and gentle. He loved my 4 year old grandson as soon as he saw him. His tail never stops wagging. He follows me around the house and just craves attention and wants to be with you. I haven't played rowdy with him because of his surgeries, but I can see the spark of mischief just hiding under the surface. He is still afraid of narrow doorways and stairs, but is getting braver every day. I'm truly amazed at how far he's come just in the 3 days he's been with me.

He sleeps in his kennel at night, not willingly though. The first night I put him to bed and he was quiet, the second night he barked so I came out and reassured him that everything was okay, the third night he barked again and I reassured him again. It took him awhile to settle down and go to sleep. I 'm sure he thought if he barked long enough I would surely come back. What a stinker. Once asleep, he sleeps until I get up in the morning. He has not been eating real well, and the vet suggested giving him a canned gravy type food mixed with dry food. He has eaten much better the last two days. He takes his medicine like a champ, no problems at all. Walks on the leash like a DREAM. Although I doubt he was ever house trained he only had one accident the first day and that was partly my fault for not giving him enough time to do his business before taking him back inside. Since then he only goes outside.

There just aren't enough words to describe how wonderful Sawyer is. He is a real gem. I'm asking that one of you great RAGOM fosters take him so he can have his heartworm treatment and find a forever home. I wish I could keep him longer, but it isn't possible. He will be the easiest foster you've ever had, trust me. Sawyer just doesn't have any negatives at all. He is a handsome doll.

Sir Sawyer checking in with my fans! I have been in my foster home for almost two weeks and it sure is fun! I have settled into the routine really well and am a joy to have around. I have not had an accident for one week and that is because FM runs a tight ship here. We stick to our routine and that is why I have settled in so good too. Did I mention that I love her : ) I think she loves me too, she is always hugging me and kissing me and she says I am just a big irresistible lug! Sometimes she forgets that I had HW treatments because I am so easy and mellow, so it has not been a challenge to keep me quiet.

Hey, guess what? I know how to bark! Mom and Penny Rose were outside at 5:00 am (Penny was having "issues" and I am sure it was related to the carmel apple she got off the counter - I told her not to do it). Anyway, I barked because I wanted to come too! Once they came back in, I went back to sleepy time.

Other than that I am just enjoying life and waiting for my forever family to come and meet me...

Sawyer had his echocardiogram and everything was fine, whew... He has stage one heartworm, so that prognosis did not change from before. He will start his treatment on Monday and a second treatment on Tuesday and hopefully that will be it. Thanks for everyone's good wishes for this big guy. He gets sweeter every day :)
