I arrived here Sunday night.  All I’ve been really doing is getting to know the place and these other two goldens living with me AND sleeping.  They sure cause a ruckus in the house.  They don’t know me that well cuz I’ve only been here a couple of days.  I’m a 12 year old golden-lab mix….but I’ve got all the golden qualities.  Don’t let my picture fool you.  I may be getting gray but my personality certainly doesn’t show it.  I get along with all dogs and cats.  I’m real friendly with the Shepard mix next door.  His name is Jack.  I think he likes me the best of the bunch.  I’m quiet but I’m real active for my age.  I still enjoy taking walks and I love playing with toys (they call them “games” here).  The other two golden boys here play hard so I’m not into that.  I respond well to the foster parents and love to play with them.  Ee all get along great here.  I get along with everyone.  I’ve met quite a few people coming into the house and I really enjoy that.  They let me sit with everyone while I’m real quiet watching them.

I’m going to the vet in the next couple of days so we’ll see what comes out of that but I feel real good.  I was diagnosed with epilepsy when I was three and I’m on some affordable pills I take twice a day.  It’s real simple.  I eat them in the bowl with my dog food twice a day.  No one can tell I have epilepsy either.  Haven’t had a seizure since the age of 3.  Since I am 12 I prefer to be around teenage people and older.  I get along with kids but I prefer teens and adults.

They leave me to roam the house when they are gone.  I’m known as the “greeter” here.  When they come home I greet them with a “game” all happy to see them.  I talk (NOT BARK) too.  I love to talk to people.  I’m quiet but cute about it.  They let me go wherever I want to go so I’m happy about that.  I mean, I’m 12.  I don’t need to be watched!  I just go about my business and don’t bother anyone.  I know basic commands and I do know “NO” when they say that to the other dogs.  The thing I love to do most is go for car rides.  They haven’t taken me on any long ones but I love them!  I’m new to RAGOM but I am ready for another home.  They tell me that I’m low maintenance and a “breeze” to have.  I’m sure I’ll have more to tell you later but I’ve got to run!

Scotch is a great dog. She still gets along well with everyone here....she was a bit too interested in our pet rabbit, but that seems to be lessening as time goes on, she totally ignores the cat. Tonight we walked two miles and she walks wonderfully...I was able to take my two dogs and Scotch...all wearing Gentle Leaders....and we had no issues at all. She does stairs like a young dog...she moves very nicely for a 12 year old. She doesn't try to get on the furniiture, but she does insist on sleeping in bed with a human....the first night here, she slept in the kitchen...after that night she must have figured we were okay because she has joined us....she's now at my feet as I type. She has been alone for about 5 hours....longer times alone happen only ocasionally around here so I won't really have that answer for a while, but she was fine after 5 hours. If you are looking to share your home with a couple of very calm, mild yet loving dogs that are also able to join you for walks and other activities, please email placementatragom [dot] org.

For some comparison, here is Scotch on her first night at her new foster home, a little unsure about what's going on.  She arrived with "her" blanket and didn't move from it...

.....and tonight!  What a difference a day makes!  She's hanging out with the other dogs, happily chewing on a bone!
