Shadow 06-168

Profile

4/15/06: This boy has had a busy 24 hours! Shadow arrived yesterday from Iowa, where his family could no longer care for him - thanks to Mike, Pat & Rick for getting him here! He then had a romp in the backyard with my Golden, a splash in the kiddie pool (it was 75 degrees)... which quickly turned into a BATH (smart move foster mom). A clean, happy Shadow was a great host to his first visitors, foster grandma and grandpa, then slept like a rock for 10 hours last night. Watch out though, he is a bed hog... but the best cuddler! This morning we got up, ate breakfast, played some more, Shadow got his ears cleaned, then off we went to PetCo for the RAGOM event. He was a perfectly behaved gentleman and sat nicely for anyone and everyone to pet him (that is, after his foster mom realized he didn't need the Gentle Leader and that it was only serving to turn him into a bucking bronco).

Here are a couple of pictures fresh from his bath yesterday... he is still wet so he probably looks a little darker than he really is. He is a beautiful reddish gold and won't be around for long... he met several interested families today. But don't let that stop you from inquiring about him if you are an approved adopter, he's not spoken for yet!

Shadow is a new dog after just a few days in foster care. He's really come out of his shell, and is the biggest sweetheart, lover boy! It has been so fun to watch him discover dog toys... the first day he wouldn't even pick up a tennis ball. Next he played with a few rope and squeaky toys, and today he finally decided that stuffed animals are pretty fun... and great fun to play 'keep away' from resident dog Mason. Tonight he's coveting Sponge Bob and Froggy. Tomorrow it's off to the vet for his neuter.

Shadow and I spent 3 hours w/ Karen A. tonight... it's a great match! Karen and Dexter the cat will adopt him next week, after returning from a family trip, and just in time to head up north to help open up the cabin. Lucky dog. Shadow will be well-loved by the entire A. family... kids, grandkids, aunt Mary, Grandpa, and 4 other furkids - Doug, Macy, Mocha and Pike. Once Dexter comes out of hiding, we're sure even he will warm up to Shadow, who seemed totally open to a friendship.

Mason and I will enjoy our last few days with Shadow and are so happy he's found his forever home.
