2/20/07: Shesa Doozie (or "Dooz" as we call her) arrived Sunday night. She is very small and timid. Beautiful buff color. She has been vetted, no worms, no heartworm. But, bad ear infections. She is very sweet. We could not do shots as she may be pregnant. She had her rabies shot earlier in the year. I will watch her for about 2 weeks and then check back with the vet to see what's up. I do not have a picture of her yet, but will get a camera soon.

Hi Everyone!  It has been a very long time since I last reported on Doozie, but she has been slowly recuperating from her spay.  She is now in top shape and ready to go to an adoring family.  As you can see from one of the pictures, she is a definite mad squirrel hound.  She races through the backyard at a moment's notice and searches out each tree.  During the heavy storms she and my resident dog Jade nearly caught several squirrels and it has whetted her appetite for more opportunities.

Dooz is a darling dog - very mellow and quiet - although she will whine a bit if she is in a different room than you, but won't necessarily get up and come into your room.  Today was the first day that she started to search me out as she found me in the computer room and just came for a visit.  These last 3 days I have left the baby gates open, giving her free access to the house and have been away for longer hours with no accidents.  She definitely has full range of the house overnight and she does wander but no housekeeping accidents.  She just whines at me in the morning to get up and let her out.  Yet, I still am not completely confident that she is 100 % housebroken, so when I know I will be gone from 6:30 to 4 or so, I still babygate her in the kitchen and TV room.  This last week she has not had any accidents.

She is still somewhat of a fussy eater.  Seems to be pretty indifferent to dry food.  But even when it's canned, she often doesn't eat the whole can - helps her keep her slim and trim figure (except for the droopy mommy belly - which is tightening up, thank you very much!).  Last vet visit she weighed in at 57 pounds.  So she is a petite one and
so very lovable.

She is now ready to be adopted if there are any of you who might be interested in her.  She still has some timidness issues and would be best placed with a family that already has a second dog or if not, then someone who is a stay at home person (or works out of their home).  She still will need time to work out her trust issues and timidness.  She has the sweetest disposition and is very gentle.  She would never be a threat to bite and rarely barks.  Little children might scare her a bit so it would probably be best to have a quieter home with older children. She certainly enjoys my teenager (they run a lot).  Dooz is 4.5 years old and very sprightly - she might have mild allergies, but I have been
giving her Benedryl andi t seems to help.  No question about it - Shesa Doozie! :)

Sheesa Doozie comes to us from a MS puppymill. She is 4.5 years old and very petite. She may be pregnant again as she was bred just before she came into RAGOM. We will know more next week. She is a light buff color and has dark eyes with dark coloring around her eyes. She is a very sweet dog, very mellow. She gets along fine with my female Lab and is indifferent towards our cat. She is very timid. She is slowly starting to explore more, but still is quite tentative. She does love to go outside and is addicted to squirrels and trying to chase them. When we go for walks she stays very close and rarely pulls on the leash. Loud noises do scare her but she reacts by running and hiding - no barking nor aggression at all. She has no resource guarding issues and just goes with the flow. She definitely is a reluctant eater. I am struggling to find anything that she will eat. Usually she takes a bite or two and then walks away. She is not housetrained and we do have to keep an eye on her all the time or she will venture into the living room. It seems as if she has to go to urinate a lot but after 4 straight years of babies, I'm not surprised. All of this snow has not helped in teaching her to go outside. But, we are working on it. She is such an easy-going dog. An excellent companion dog, very low-key. But, she will definitely have to go to a home that has another dog as she is very dependent on ours to show her what to do and convince her it's ok to move about without fear.
