Just look how gorgeous Simon is!!! He is such a gentleman! Simon came into our home a few days ago and made himself right at home, which we are greatful for. Unfortunately he had been passed around as a "backyard breeder" for most of his life so he is probably thinking "oh, this is just another temporary home, might as well make myself comfortable." Well little does he know, yes it is a temporary home, but only in order to find his FOREVER HOME. We couldn't have a better dog right now.

Simon loves to cuddle, is house trained, sleeps all night long next to our bed and is just such a sweet man. He loves his daily walks and is so good on his leash. It's so great to see him so happy. All he needs is love, food two times a day, a daily walk, love, kisses, a peaceful home, love and more love...how hard is that? Simon went to the vet yesterday and has a mild skin infection and ear infection. He was diagnosed with hip displasia on the right side so he will need to be on Dasuquin for the rest of his peaceful loving days. (it's a glucosamine supplement) He does a lot of resting here, getting ready for his forever home. He is truly a joy to have around.

He looks forward to meeting you!!!

Sorry it has been so long since I have updated Simon's page. He is doing well. We are trying to figure out how to keep him calm during storms. The pictures are of him lying in bed with his "thunder shirt" on after we gave him some calming medicine during a storm that the vet prescribed. Our friend and dog trainer Marilyn told us to put a tight shirt on him during a storm...it's supposed to be calming...and I think it helps! As do the meds the vet gave us. We just wish he would know that we will keep him safe no matter what happens but he can't seem to shake his storm anxiety. For now we will continue to give him lots of hugs and kisses and love and continue to let him know he is now safe from here on out.

I am so sorry it has been awhile since I have updated Simon's page. Rest assured he is doing well! He still has some storm anxiety which we are working on. He has a tendency to push out our window screens during a storm, but only if we are not home. If we are home during a storm he will pace and pant and sometimes try to go into the bathtub. It's nice that my husband mostly works from home so he can be with Simon in case of a storm. Having another dog in the house also helps. We have noticed that our resident dog, Broder, has taken on the job of being Simon's protector. We went to the dog park and Broder will stick close to Simon and make sure he doesn't wander off or is safe from other dogs. Its really very cute, especially since Broder is only 5 and Simon is now 11 years old. Sending lots of love from Simon and his foster family.

This is what I came home to on Valentines Day! Is Simon the cutest thing or what? He is such a sweet, sweet loving man! He continues to melt my heart. He is a dog who loves to be around his people, following me everywhere. When I woke up this morning he was lying beside my bed snoring. What a great way to wake up, it just put a smile on my face. It's now time for our daily walk which Simon enjoys so much so off we go! Simon sends all his love your way and looks forward to meeting you and finding his forever home.

We took Simon to Ollu Dog Wash for a bath. All proceeds went to the Great Dane Rescue. As always, Simon was such a good boy. He doesn't mind being scrubbed down and getting clean. There were so many dogs there, big and small, and he behaved himself like a perfect gentleman. He even let us blow dry him which many dogs were scarred of. He got a doggy massage by a licensed animal masseuse. I have continued to massage him at home and he absolutely LOVES it! His eyes roll back and he goes into a deep trance. She did tell us that Simon has a significant amount of muscles loss in his back legs, probably due to his hip displasia and old age. We will work on this this summer when we can climb small hills to build up has hind leg strength. We will be careful to not overdue it! Simon is such a dream to have around. He does sleep a lot so if you want a very lazy golden retriever that will follow you from room to room to show his love for you he is the dog for you!! Come give us a visit!

Simon continues to be a joy to have around. He was at another RAGOM volunteer's house over the holiday and they also said they just love having him around. He is so mellow, sleeps a lot, is always there for love and just follows us around wherever we go. He continues to go on his daily walk, except when it's blizzard weather. He would make a great pet for a quiet couple, with or with out kids, who will walk him daily, give him good nutritious food, and be able to care for an elderly dog. If your out there please come visit!!! Simon would love to meet you.

Just a quick update on Simon. He continues to be such a joy to have in our home. Here are some photos of Simon doing one of the three things he loves to do most...napping next to us. (His other two favorite things to do is go on walks and eating.) He is so easy to have around. For me he is the ideal dog...enjoys companionship, wants to be around us always, and very low maintenance, and dishes out lots of love. Happy Holidays to you!

Simon had a great time at Grandparent's Day in Burnsville this past Sunday. He met a lot of very nice people who dished out a lot of love for him and he returned it happily. He was so energetic and delighted to get outside and meet people. He loved walking around PetSmart, seeing and smelling the new pleasantries. We also met the neighbors cats yesterday, to see how he would respond and he really didn't care either way, so I gather from this info he is just fine w/ cats. (he is so laid back). It was so cute when they sniffed noses w/ each other. I never have a camera around when needed! Well we did get some beautiful photos of Simon enjoying his new backyard and flowers. He is so adorable. Oh, just a side note, he has let me examine his teeth on numerous occasions so he is not aggressive at all, and has no food aggression towards our other dog when they are eating together. He is a hungry boy though so he will happily eat Broder's food if it sits there alone for any amount of time. :)
