Skippy and Riley (our daughter's Yellow Lab) seem to have invented a new game. Our garden has a short fence around it and they seem to have designated it as the "boxing ring" or in their case, the "tug-o-war" ring. They both jump in over the little fence and tug like crazy then all of a sudden it's like the bell rang so they and stop playing and jump out. They take a little time to catch their breath then start all over again - "round 2 !!". Apparently it's against the rules to play tug outside of the fence.
We're babysitting a little puppy this weekend. Skippy didn't know what to think at first, now he seems a little scared when the puppy jumps up at him. Skippy also got to meet Lacy 05-420 because we picked her up from her owner and she spent a couple hours here before her new foster mom came to get her. They played together after the usual meeting routine.
The beginning of the week was very cold so very few people and dogs were walking by the fence, but Skippy didn't want to give up his post. He would stand there waiting, lifting up one paw then the next while we stand with the door open trying to coax him in while heating all of Fargo. Skippy is scheduled to meet a family next weekend, so keep your paws crossed that he will find his forever home.
