Profile

Sophie is a Goldendoodle puppy surrendered by a breeder. Social and playful, she would do well in a household with canine playmates. She has not been exposed to children and cats while in our care. While she does not require a physical fence, Sophie is very active and will need plenty of exercise to burn off her puppy energy. Continued training and socialization will be crucial as this smart little girl learns to achieve her full potential as a family companion.

Today was a big day for Sophie -- she found the best family ever and went happily with them without looking back. She was ready for this next phase and had already decided that these people were going to be fun and would take good care of her.

She made us proud as she walked nicely on her the leash to their car. Good girl, Sophie!  It just doesn't get better than this: good people, good dog, great together!

Is it possible that we're fostering the cutest puppy ever? We think so! It's hard to get a good picture of Sophie -- she's so busy being an active little girl and she's not interested in sitting still for the camera. But make no mistake about it, she's a cutie.

She is a Goldendoodle puppy, active and inquisitive just as all puppies are. She's very playful and loves to talk our adult dogs into playing silly puppy games, occasionally trying to join the adult dogs in their games, too.

In one short week, she's learned her name, figured out that outside is the right place to do her business, and learned that Foster Dad typically has a treat in his pocket. Smart, right?

Sophie is in the process of getting caught up on her puppy shots, and once those are done, we'll take her in to be spayed. Sophie has been treated for worms and is almost on the other side of all of that. She has a healthy appetite and is as eager as the rest of our dogs to have breakfast early in the morning.

Right now, Sophie needs to go outside once in the middle of the night, and we're all looking forward to the time that her bladder is big enough to let us all have uninterrupted sleep. She sleeps in her kennel and whines when she needs to go outside -- and then knows just what to do when we let her out, comes back in, and goes back to sleep. Nice.

It's been a while since we've had any puppies in the house, and we'd forgotten about the boundless energy. Sophie plays hard and then sleeps hard. She loves exploring outside and can entertain herself with dandelions, puppy-sized sticks, and an occasional piece of mulch.

She would love to play chase with the adult dogs, but she's a puppy and that's not best for her at this time, so she settles for some tricky maneuvers that cause the adult dogs to stop and pay attention to her. Inside, she's learning about dog toys and has learned the unspoken rules to playing bitey-face with any willing dog.

Sophie's coat is black with some brown highlights and is soft and wavy. She already enjoys being bathed and combed. She's a smart little girl and will make some family a wonderful companion.
