Spinnaker (Romano/Piper 03-329)

Profile

The Fab Four arrived safe and sound thanks to transport assistance from Kay and David - okay the fifth pup in the picture got adopted earlier and never made the trip to South Dakota. It was a family affair getting them all settled - since the weather has still been so beautiful, we decided they should come and live at the lake home with me and the rest of the dogstar pack!

They are emaciated puppy mill kids, weighing in at 1/2 of the normal weight for their age and are troubled by parasites and bacterial infections. They have the medicine they need and are currently up to date on their shots for now. Our mission is to get them healthy and socialized and to put on a few pounds. (Not to mention stopping the diarrhea!) They all got pheasant wings to play with and thought they were in retriever heaven! All are getting used to walking on a leash. They will be ready fro their forever homes soon.

Romano (AKA Piper) is a beautiful, shy and quiet blonde. We used to think he was timid but now we think that is his "act" to get the kids to carry him around. :-) Actually - he just needs to continue to build up strength. He is coming out of his shell nicely and loves being held and cuddled, he is completely housetrained - even barks to go out. Loves to play with the older dogs and is gaining at the fastest rate. He is more of a loner than the other puppies and occasionally will put himself to bed in another crate instead of with the other 3. He shows signs of ease of trainability and with continued socialization, will be an excellent pet. I would recommend a "full time" family for him.
