I am delighted to write this last update because Squirt went home with his forever family today! Squirt has two new brothers now, J. and W., and I wish them much happiness (and an occasional hot dog for Squirt!).

Squirt is really quite a special dog. In the short time he's been with us, he has been transformed from an outdoor dog to a full-fledged member of our family! He is completely housetrained and now has free run of the whole house. He has never done a single naughty thing in the house and he is totally fine with the cats now...he loves to watch them, but he doesn't chase them anymore. Squirt is a very social guy and gets along great with other dogs. We recently took him to a Humane Society picnic and he was one of the most well-behaved dogs there. Needless to say there were lots of dogs at the picnic, but Squirt just took it all in stride and even scored a hot dog! Many of the volunteers commented on how beautiful Squirt is. He is wonderful with kids of all ages...he's very playful but he seems to know that he has to be extra gentle with the little ones! Squirt becomes more and more affectionate every day...he loves to give kisses, follows me everywhere, and if invited, loves to sleep on the foot of our bed at night.
Squirt is now ready for his forever home...he's got his bags packed full of love, happiness, devotion and kisses!!

Squirt had a wonderful week! For starters, we found out that Shylo(07-366)and Squirt are littermates! They are being fostered in different homes and are doing just fine, but if someone wants two dogs who are a real hoot together please feel free to ask about both.
Squirt and I spent the last few days working on basic commands and he's super smart! He'll turn on a dime when you say "come", he sits like a gentleman, and he's learning to walk nicely on a lead. He's also doing MUCH better with our cats. Last night he was curled up next to me on the bed when one of the cats jumped up. Squirt raised his head and studied the cat with great interest but he did not bark or chase!
And Squirt really loves to be with his people. When I do housework (which is not nearly as interesting as the cats), he follows me all over the house (wish he could dust with that tail!). He loves to cuddle and will snuggle up against me every chance he gets. He's also a great playmate and ready for just about any game you want to play... fetch, hide and seek, tug of war, or just being silly and rolling on the ground!
In the short time Squirt has been with us he has brought such joy to our home!
