Sunny 09-037

Profile

Let's give a robust RAGOM welcome to:  SUNNY!!

Miss Sunny is an eight year old GR/mix with lovely freckles. Her sunny disposition these cold wintery days has already won over the cat fur bros. We know she would not make a great watch dog as she welcomed into an empty house, the strange (to her) Gramma & Grampa.

Sunny visited the vet this week and was given a clean bill of health, except for the 4-5 pounds she 'could stand to lose'.  Sunny has not getting regular workouts so hopefully with daily walks those pounds will melt away (and she LOVES to go on walks). She is housetrained and has full roam of the house during the day and night (up to 9 hours).

More to come on this pettite bundle of energy.

From Sunny's forever family...

Last February I adopted Sunny. It's hard to believe that it has been almost 1 year!! She has been such a wonderful companion and friend. In the last 10 months Sunny has spent almost every moment by my side. She loves taking walks, especially ones that involve encounters with squirrels and other small animals : ) We've had a very active last 10 months experiencing lots of exciting things. Although she is 9 years old she is a bundle of energy!! She has gone camping, fishing with my boyfriend and I on his boat, swimming in the lake & in her baby pool, and she gets to go to the dog park at least once a week to play and run! When she gets to the dog park she loves to stand in the middle of all the action and howl, bark and wag her tail. I think it's because she's so excited and happy to be there.

Although Sunny is the only dog in my house, my boyfriend does own a dog that she sees quite often. He owns a 2 year old English Bulldog named Murphy. They seem like a very odd couple but they are best buds! Murphy loves to follow Sunny around and watch what she's doing. It's kind of like watching a little kid following around their older sibling. We find them napping next to each other and playing together all the time : )

Looking back, adopting Sunny was one of the best decisions I have ever made!! I would do it again in a heartbeat...and if I had a bigger house I would certainly adopt another Golden! My advice for anyone on the fence about adopting a senior Golden - - - DO IT!! You won't regret it!

Here are a few pictures of Sunny doing some of her favorite things!!

Sunny has been with us for a week and what we know about her is that her name describes her perfectly!  When on a walk, she prances along sort of like a pony:  throwing her front paws out, head up, tail up.  To see her enjoying herself so much, it makes you feel glad you are out walking with her.  Everything seems a little brighter and Sunny - a little corny, but true!

Other things about her:

  • She has a very sweet, easy-going disposition
  • She is fully housetrained and has full run of the house day and night
  • She has no behavior issues (no anxieties, not a runner, seldom barks, does not counter-surf)
  • Sunny weighs about 56 pounds, but her vet said she should weigh closer to 50 pounds (with regular walks this should be easy)
  • She lived with a baby, another dog, and is with 2 large cats now
  • My parents who are not dog lovers really enjoyed her when they stayed with us

Sunny’s History

She is one of the lucky ones:  she has had the same loving family since she was 8 months old (we have 8 years of vet records).  She lived with younger fur-bro Ranger (09-036), a 2-year human sister, and Mom and Dad in a small house and yard.  With Baby Number Two on the way, the heartbreaking decision was made to call RAGOM.   Sunny is a golden-mix and guesses on the ‘mixed with what’ question include golden-cocker, golden-lab, or golden-?

If you are looking for a laid-back pup with experience, Sunny might be the one for you and your family. Please give our people in placement a call.
