Daisy came into RAGOM's care as a retired breeder dog. Daisy is being treated for ear infections and needs dental surgery due to an injury as a puppy. She is quickly adjusting to her new life but time needs to overcome her fears and gain confidence. Because she is skittish, children must be age 10+. Daisy needs a confident dog companion for guidance. A physical fence is optional as long as there is a solid plan to keep Daisy safe. For Daisy to blossom, a calm and patient home will be ideal.

Yesterday was a big day for Miss Daisy (nicknamed Daisy 3) as she went to live with a wonderful family in Edina to begin the next step in her Golden journey! The "C" family added a companion dog to their very sweet and beautiful Daisy (#1) who is 9 years old and still full of life and vitality.

The Daisies hit it off wonderfully, as though they have been friends forever, and Daisy 3 was immediately very warm, excited, and affectionate toward the entire family. They connected with her as well and have been loving this sweet girl up since they brought her home yesterday.

They are a very kind and compassionate family. Daisy 3 deserves to live out the rest of her days being loved and treated like the kind soul she is. There are three older kids in the home (ages 19, 17, 13) who will give her tons of attention. It was obvious how much they enjoyed her company and cared for her right away.

The 4 1/2 months I had with Daisy 3 in our home were wonderful. Seeing her blossom and grow in confidence and trust was very special; she is a very special dog. She went through two difficult surgeries, tackled numerous challenges during which she was terrified (including being in the same room with the TV!), and very quickly realized that she very much wanted to be loved.

She watched and followed our dogs, realizing how fun it was to be a dog. She soaked in every moment of affection from our family, especially our kids, and she gave the love back tenfold.

One of the surgeries helped to repair a mouth injury she endured as a puppy, which had left her teeth and gums exposed, very painful, discolored, and inflamed. The surgeon was able to cut and pull the lip and reattach it to the end of her snout, allowing her teeth and gums to be covered and protected.

It was an amazing outcome that greatly affected her well-being. She honestly made big strides in progress after she healed. I believe she feels much better after having it done, it seemed to relieve a lot of pain and discomfort.

All of this added to her facial expression, her silly quirky personality, and her overall sweetness. It is part of her amazing character.

I am missing her here in our house, she has such a presence to her, but I am so excited and happy that she is beginning this next chapter in her life, and I know how much love and goodness she will add to their family!

Daisy has been coming out of her shell quite nicely. She is such a big lover, coming up often to ask to be petted—and she gives the longest, best hugs. She is very respectful and listens well when asked to do something or not to do something.

She is learning basic commands very well and is doing much better walking on the leash. She is also getting more comfortable with trying new things, meeting new people and dogs, and going new places. We took her camping for a weekend and she did very well with that.

She will be having some soft tissue surgery June 19. They will be partially repairing her lip to cover her gums and teeth, so we will be anxiously waiting for recovery on that. She is otherwise very healthy.

This special girl is so brave, but she is still very cautious. No doubt she will continue to learn quickly and be a great addition to someone's family!

Did I mention this sweet, silly little girl steals the heart of everyone she meets? She will also steal your slippers, socks, and toilet paper if you are not looking. Her retrieving skills are good and she likes to gather and collect things for her crate.

We have been teaching her that some things are not hers for the taking and which things she can have. She is getting the idea. She has also been learning that a good game of “fetch” is pretty fun.

To say that Daisy is grateful for life would be an understatement! She wakes up every day joyful and happy. It is a great way to start your day! She has gone from being a scared little girl to a beautiful blossom who loves to be loved and is totally quirky and funny.

It has been a little bit of a “two steps forward, one step back” kind of process for this little one, but her spirit is amazing, and she is truly a special girl.

She does currently find comfort in a crate, but we don’t close the doors. I had attempted this at first when leaving the house, but she seemed to be pretty stressed out about it, so we have left it open and she has done great.

She mostly uses it as her comfort zone, but has free reign of the house. She may need the crate until she gets to a more confident stage; it is helpful when she is feeling stressed or overwhelmed.

Nighttime was pretty scary for Daisy for the first few weeks. Everything seemed to startle her and put her on alert, but she now sleeps very well through the night.

She sometimes seems to think she is a puppy, so it has been a balance in correcting her and those behaviors, but not discouraging her or setting her back. She follows the lead of our high-energy adventurous dog, running, playing, and checking out birds and squirrels and noises in the yard.

But she also follows the grace and maturity of our resident Golden, Molly. She is learning the best of both worlds, but she also has her own sense of discovery and her personality has really been starting to show over the last week.

She is still quite cautious of many things, including the TV. She can’t seem to grasp the concept of the noise and the picture, but she is getting better. At least she does not stand and bark at it anymore!

She wants to be brave—you can see it in her behavior when she is unsure about something. She learns new things every day. She looks so proud when she does finally try something she has been contemplating. Time will continue to work on her side, and she will need someone who will continue to nurture that trust and teach her about new things and experiences.

Daisy is a spunky, sweet little girl who came into RAGOM’s care at the beginning of April. She is a two-year-old retired breeder with beautiful white and golden brown coloring. She is a petite little lady, weighing about 60 pounds.

Her nose and mouth were injured when she was a small puppy. As a result, part of her gums and teeth are exposed and some of her teeth decayed. She will be having surgery to address that.

Daisy came into our home terrified of everything but has made amazing progress! She now loves attention and is very smart, obedient, and attentive—but still very cautious of many things. She will need a home with a confident dog to continue to learn from and patient parents to further build her trust in humans and the outside world.
