4/2/07: Sunshine, aka Sunny, is a 1 to 1 1/2 year old neutered male.  He's great with other dogs, and I would recommend he go to a family that has a "buddy" for him.  Sunny is great with kids and is very curious, but not in a menacing way, about cats.  He absolutely adores attention, often following us room to room just to see what were doing and if we have time to scratch him behind his ears :)

Sunshine met his new family last Monday.  Paul and Audrey came to our home, pockets full of treats, and an open door to their hearts.  After a good visit with Paul and Audrey, they took Sunny on a walk in the park behind our home...it was a wonderful meeting that ended with Paul and Audrey very much wanting Sunny to join their family.

We enjoyed our last couple days with Sunny, going on a few extra walks and offering more treats then usual...even our Newfies got in on this.  Thursday evening was bittersweet as I delivered Sunny to his forever home.  It is so hard to let go when you've watched a dog develop from a scared, intimidated puppy mill dog into a bouncy, energetic, and playful family member...and we only had him 3 1/2 weeks. When we arrived at Sunny's new home it took some coaxing to get him to go in through an unfamiliar doorway, but he was relaxing on one of several dog beds in his new home before I left.

Sunny has a really wonderful family...they are already so in love with him!  I predict Sunny will be running the household within a month!  His new home has a large yard with lots of trees.  His family has a cabin where Sunny will spend most of his summer and best of all, there are neighbor dogs at the cabin that can show him the game of fetch...our Newfies were not the best teachers for Sunny on this.  We are very excited for Sunny.  He is such a good dog and he so deserves a family that is going to love and spoil a Golden the way they should be....he has found this with Paul and Audrey!

I know Sunny would want me to relay a huge thank you to RAGOM for helping him find a new life and another huge thank you to his sponsors, Jennifer and Paul, for their caring hearts.  He sends you all a big wet kisses and furry hugs!!

An update in the words of Sunny:

Easter weekend was awesome!  Well, overall it was awesome.  It did start out with a rather long car ride…which can make my tummy feel like there are butterflies in it, so my foster mom gave me some medicine called Dramamine before we left which helped me feel much better.  We went to a place called Iowa…wow is there a lot of open space there!  And there were these huge dogs there that said “Moooo” – I liked to watch them but I stayed away from their fenced in yard, they’re kind of intimidating.

Anyway, there was an enormous open yard that I was able to run and play in…I never realized just how slow my two Newfie siblings were until we played in such a big open area.  My foster mom kept saying I needed to slow down so I didn’t hurt my leg but it felt so good to stretch my legs out and run with the wind!  My foster mom worries too much, my leg feels better and better everyday and I don’t even have to take medicine anymore because the tests came back negative for any tick disease.  Sure I still limp a little but it feels ten times better than it did last Wednesday!

The best part of Easter came on the second day we were there.  My foster mom and I got up early and went for a walk (just the two of us) but she kept dropping these plastic things that had a sweet smell coming from inside.  I brought several back to her, but she just kept dropping them… I don’t know why she was having so many problems keeping these things in her basket!  Well, later that day a bunch of shorter people came over to help locate all these plastic things my mom had so clumsily lost in the yard.  These little people were very noisy (much noisier than the ones I live with) so I watched them for awhile before decided to assist them on their search.  But you know what (don’t tell my foster mom and dad) - the shorter people were a bit more fun on the search and they didn’t drop plastic things I brought back to them.  They were so excited every time I found one and they all wanted to be my best buddy!

There were so many people at Easter and everyone kept telling me how handsome I was and what I good boy I was, it made me all warm and glowing inside.  I’ve never heard so many kind words before, I liked what they were saying and how they would rub behind my ears and under my chest…such nice touches.  I’ve never experienced anything so wonderful as Easter….I hope Easter can continue to happen everyday!

There was another long car ride home but a wonderful surprise upon arriving home.  I found out I have two sponsors, Jennifer and Paul!  I never realized so many people could love me!  I don’t know what I did to deserve all this attention and love but I hope I’m still doing it because I don’t want to go back to not having all this!  Well, I get to go to work with mom again today…I meet new friends each time I go, some are 2 legged and some are 4 but they have all been very nice!  I can’t wait to see who’s there today, so I gotta go!

I rolled a "7" - is that good or bad??
