Sy 06-314

Profile

7/21/06: Sy arrived in the Twin Cities last night. He is a young eight year old without any graying. He is shorter with a stocky build. Sy has a small white patch on his chest, and his coat is gold with waves.

Our resident Golden Aster and cats have introduced themselves, and Sy accommodated them with games, play and silliness. The crew was disappointed when it was time for bed--Sy was a hit with all. More to come after we visit the vet and get to know this boy better.

Dear Ragom and Karen,

I am writing you an update on Sy (06-314). He is such a loving and wonderful boy. He has fit in to our family almost instantly, and like most Goldens has been a "Velcro dog", following us everywhere. He just loves to be petted, so I think he is going to make a good therapy dog when he gets a little better trained. But he already seems to have - sit, down, shake, wait, stay and come - down pretty well (at least if there is a treat involved). As we were warned, he is a runner if he gets loose, but I think that is better already too, as he has become more attached to us. He loves beds and the first thing he does when entering a bedroom is jump up. He seems so happy up there. It's funny that he never tries to get on the couch. He recently spent a full week with us and Griffie (our 1997 RAGOM dog) at the North Shore. He thought this is a wonderful place, with so many great smells. He still isn't sure about swimming though. I've attached a photo of him up there.

Thanks again so much for all the wonderful work you do helping all the Goldens who need new homes!

Sincerely,

Mark and Ruth V

Sy is changing daily. We have brushed and groomed and eaten good food and a new coat is coming in. That's right his coat is turning very soft. It will be fun to see how far this goes. Now he looks like a big fluffy bear with his curly hair. We have found one bad habit. Sy tips his food bowl over before he will eat. We explored what was going on and the best we can come up with is he didn't eat from a bowl when he was younger..The dumping of the food on the floor might be a old habit. We will work on this, already he only tips the bowl when I leave the room. We caught some pictures of Sy, but he is hard to catch standing still.
