It is my great pleasure to introduce you to TANK 12-046.
Hi Everyone - it's me - Tank. First, I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to Transport/Corrine for getting me to my foster home.
Let me tell you about myself. I am a year old purebred neutered male who is gold in color with nice feathering on my tail and hind legs. My coat is very wavy and I have highlights on my ears and a white patch on my chest. I weigh 56 pounds which is a good weight for my frame. My paws are big so I may not be done growing yet. I am fully crate trained and go in with a treat. I sleep through the night without a peep. I walk well on a leash and really enjoy being outside. I am completely housetrained. I really don't tell you I have to go as I had free roam of 40 acres in my previous home.
I was not used to riding in the car and was a little scared to get into FD truck, but after a few times I jump in and out easily. I get excited and head to the door everytime FD puts on his jacket because I think we are going outside or for ride.
This country pup has had lots of new experiences since coming to the BIG CITY. We went to this big store with lots and lots of animal smells to get some food and toys. I had my nose down and was sniffing everything in sight. I met lots of humans so far and I haven't met one I didn't like. FM says it is not polite to jump up on people so I have been learning to sit down and keep "all four on the floor." FM says I learn fast and when I met the neighbor guy for the first time I sat right down without being told so he could pet me!!!
I also have had a lot of "grooming" because of the mats behind my ears. FD worked for two days getting those out and I did not mind one bit. FM and FD put me in this thing called a "bath tub." It wasn't my favorite thing, but FM said it was necessary so I cooperated, but I made sure they got a bath too. I saw myself in the big mirror for the first time and I thought I was quite handsome. I also helped FM and FD get me dried off with the towels.
I am your typical "velcro" golden who loves belly rubs, tennis balls, twisted ropes, etc. I love to play fetch, but I don't like to give it back. I tease FD and want to play "tug" or "chase." However, when we are done playing, the tennis balls, twisted ropes, etc. have to get put away since I chew on them and try to eat them. FM only lets me have a Nyla Bone to chew on, but between you and me it really isn't much fun because nothing comes off. I have also attempted to chew on anything that is left on the floor so FM and FD have to keep their stuff picked up. I haven't destroyed/eaten any socks, shoes, or slippers because FM and FD always catch me and make a trade with me for the Nyla Bone.
I also went to the "dog doctor" and he says I have a pretty bad ear infection. No wonder they hurt so much and I could not figure out why. I have to take medicine and have drops put in. I didn't like it at first and tried to run away, but after a few times I am getting used to it. My ears are already getting better so they don't hurt as much now. When I am done taking the medicine and if my ears are still "icky" we will try some grain free food to see if I have an allergy. I also have "tummy worms" so I took medicine for that too and I should be good to go in a few weeks.
I am learning to be an inside, city dog, but I try to run out the door every chance I get. I love my kennel and often go in just to "chill", but I would be very destructive if I was closed in a room by myself. I really NEED to be with my people.
Since I am still a puppy I have a hard time containing myself when I see other dogs. I want to rush right over and play. FM and FD have been working with me on the proper way to introduce yourself. I met Princess Cleo the resident 'Old English Grand-dog." I really wanted to play with her, but kept jumping on her head which kind of made her mad. She let me know and I backed off, but I just want to play so bad I kept going back. FD had to give me a time out. I think with time Princess Cleo and I will be great fur friends.
My "fur" ever home should be a home where my new parents are ABSOLUTELY COMMITTED to taking me to training so I can become the best dog I can be. A fenced yard or someone who will walk me often since I would not do well with a tie out, I would probably chew it!! A family with children who are 8 years old or older as I am still learning and I might knock over a toddler with my enthusiasm. I am just a toddler myself and have lots to learn.
