Tanner Danner: What can I say? I wanted my first foster experience to be a positive one and never did you let me down. I prayed when I said I would take you in that you would be happy, healthy and want to be loved. You were all of that and more. Your comical antics put a smile on my face more times in a day than I could count. You stole my heart and now that you have moved on, you took a piece of it. I will ALWAYS remember you and all the joy you brought to our home. Clohe misses you already. Thank you for letting her be the princess she is. Now you will have Tabby to boss you around at your new home and Chloe next door (who also happens to be a shih tzu with the same name!—what are the odds?) who I am sure will do the same. I know you won’t care. Your gentle demeanor makes you the happiest guy around. Many thanks to Pat and Michael who will give you the home you so deserve. Daily trips to dog park and many walks that are so important to you. A Mom and Dad who work from home? It just does not get better than that. Keep smiling big guy.

Tanner is doing extremely well in foster care. He has really settled in and it is like he has lived here forever. When we come home, both he and Clohe greet us at the door with toys in their mouth. He loves to play fetch and will actually give you the ball back (unlike Clohe who refuses). He would play all day but is not obsessive about it.

He is still on a trial basis with meds for his thyroid. We will recheck his level in 3 weeks and determine if it is making a difference. I took him in to be weighed and while it was disappointing it was still a loss. He now weighs 88 pounds. I was hoping for more. He shows no storm anxiety whatsoever nor any fear of firecrackers.

He is such a gentle giant. I think he would love to have a home with older kids who could play with him but would be happy with just a Mom or Dad or both. If you think a senior boy is the way to go, feel free to email placementatragom [dot] org and let’s discuss him. I know if you met him, you would want to call him your own. Tanner wants to finish his update, he has been a really busy boy.

Tanner here...

I have been waiting for my perfect home. I do not require a lot but would love another dog to play with and someone that would take me for a walk everyday. I am the best walker. I don’t need a Gentle Leader and I love everyone I come upon, dogs and humans alike. I went to my FIRST graduation party yesterday. It was at a fellow RAGOM volunteer’s house and guess what? They have a pool!!!!! I was encouraged to go swimming and I did. I really do swim well but it is a little hard on my arthritic back end. So then I played with Sophee and Riley (08-235). Riley was tired out from the day but Sophee was happy to share her time with me. I was thankful that Rick and Connie were ok with me coming because foster Mom did not ask for permission ahead of time. They were gracious and opened their doors even when I was standing behind Mom! Today was Father’s Day and you know that includes Foster Dads. I gave him a card that was perfect from me and he was really pleased. Foster sister came home and she and I went for a long walk around the lake. She even ran with me. I don’t want to do that often but I really do enjoy nice long walks. Clohe and I are best friends but I keep telling her that I am not going to be around forever. She stares at me when I have one of her toys but there is plenty for both of us. I have “Nut time” down pat now. I don’t stand in the hall anymore waiting for her but actually take off thru the house trying to catch her. She is a fast bugger and FM says we sound like a herd of elephants.

Feel free to come and see me. I am always open to having visitors.

Hey everyone. Tanner here.

I wanted to give you a quick update on my really, really busy last week. I had the sutures removed on my eyelid and it looks wonderful. No more cone for me! I also lost 5 pounds. FM said Yippee! And then we went to Chuck and Don’s to get dog food. While she was checking out, I helped myself to the bulk treats. And I do mean helped myself. Why else would they be there? I have not been that full in a really long time. Weigh in is tomorrow again. I hope I get another reward.

I spent the weekend planting flowers. FM was going to leave me inside (as you can see from the picture) but my sad face got to her so Clohe and I hung out both days in the yard. I LOVE TO BE OUTSIDE. And walks? There is nothing greater.

On Sunday FM and I did a home visit. I had the best time playing with a 1 year old Boxer/St Bernard mix. I really tuckered him out but boy did we have fun. He also has 2 cat siblings and I totally ignored them. I don’t think I would mind at all if I lived with a cat or two. I would like to have a fur sibling though.

I attached a picture of my neighbor, Kobe. We visit each other occasionally. He’s a sheltie. A big sheltie. Looks like Lassie to me.

FM says I am the best houseguest ever. I have never had an accident in the house and I have always had free roam. I have no storm anxiety, do not get on the furniture, and love to sleep at the foot of your bed. I do not beg and have only barked 3 times since being here.

If you would like to meet me, feel free to email your placement advisor and let her know. I will be at Chuck and Don’s in Shakopee on Saturday, June 7th, if you want to meet me or any of my RAGOM siblings. Either works. I’m available.

News Flash!!!!

An amazing thing happened today. First I want to give you a little history on the resident dog that lives here, Miss Clohe. Until recently she has always lived with a cat. The cat just recently passed so she lost her favorite fur friend. As you can expect, she ruled him but at the same time they were great playmates. FM has always wanted Clohe to interact more with dogs. So she brought her to doggie daycare where she would only hang with the humans. She tried dog park which did not work either. Clohe just wanted to be held. For a bossy girl with attitude, she does not do well out of her element. But give her a cat?? Now that’s a different story. FM loves taking her on the home visits where they have a cat as she knows she will enjoy it very much. So…back to the story. Clohe and Bo (the cat) always played a game that FM calls “Nut time”. Clohe goes tearing through the house at full speed(like a nut) and Bo would always cut her off at the pass and jump over her. This would go on for minutes until Clohe would get tired and she and Bo would wrestle. Nut time over. Well, yesterday Clohe invited me to play “Nut time”. I knew exactly how to play. However I am not as quick moving as a 10 pound cat so it was a little more difficult for me but boy did I love it anyway. Clohe would start out in the dining room, down the hall, around the bed in the bedroom, back down the hall and into the dining room. I tried to catch her but man is she fast. And LOW to the ground……. So I decided to stand in the hallway (as she always comes down that path) my tail wagging, spinning circles as she would come and go RIGHT UNDER ME. FM thought it was hysterical and I think Clohe was amazed I knew how to play. I think she really likes me and I like her too. I think I would like to have a fur sibling in my forever home. I would love to meet a perspective family that has a playmate for me. Email placementatragom [dot] org if you would like to check me out. I’m waiting.

Hey everyone. Tanner here. I thought I would write my own update. Foster Mom is cleaning up after last night’s festivities and Foster Dad has the remote in his hand sitting in his favorite chair. They called it game night with lots of snacks and new humans who had never met me.

Yesterday was a blast. Foster sister and her boyfriend took Clohe and I for a very LONG walk around the lake. Clohe rides in a stroller because #1 she’s a princess and #2 she has very sensitive pads that are not calloused over and they bleed every time she walks any distance. Come on……. Foster Mom and Dad really buy into that. I do really love my walks and I guess I need to lose a little weight so it’s ok. But I have to tell you I look at that stroller sometimes and wish I could fit into it. My FM put me on a diet right after my eye surgery. One week later when I was weighed I had gained ½ a pound. What the heck? Now she is more diligent then ever. Around the lake was the furthest I have gone yet and I did great.

My eye is healing nicely and I have had no problems with my teeth extractions. My thyroid panel came back a little low so I am going to start thyroid meds today and see if that makes a difference. I will have it rechecked in 3 weeks and they will determine at that time if I am to stay on the meds. Personally I hope that is partially responsible for my extra pounds. I no longer am wearing the cone. It makes me very sad which in turn makes my family sad. I am really settling in here and am as close to a perfect dog as you will find (FM says so). I rarely bark, I do not beg, I do not get on the furniture even if you try to coax me; I love to be near you but am content and happy to be on the floor. Actually I love to lie like a sea turtle. FM thinks it is so funny.

I’m ready to find my forever home. If you are interested in me (as I am sure I would be in you) feel free to email placementatragom [dot] org  I would love to meet you. Toodles……

Tanner came through his surgery with flying colors! The sty on his eye was just that. No need to send it off to pathology. Still waiting to hear on his thyroid but that’s a simple fix if need be. He did have to have 2 teeth pulled but he is reaping the benefits of that by eating canned food. YUM! YUM! He needs to wear a cone to prevent him from rubbing his eye. I am trying to only use it when we are gone by tethering him to me. Last night we camped out on the office floor together. Let me tell you, he really stretches out. He loves to put his paws on you when he sleeps. Even the floor is not big enough for the two of us. The good news is: He does not require a pillow. The bad news is: He hogs all the blanket and lets out an occasional snore.

This guy is the “Perfect dog”. He loves people, gets along with all the other dogs he has met, and rarely barks. I have heard him bark 3 times and he has been here almost a week. I think he might like a fur sibling to play with. He has tried to get Clohe (the resident dog) to play but so far no luck. He’s a big boy so older children might be a better fit. He really does not know his size.

We walk every evening and he is a dream on a leash. I have started him on Dasuquin for his joints so for now our walks are short. He absolutely loves them.

We are going to get his eyelid healed up and this guy is good to find his forever home. Please email placementatragom [dot] org if you would like to meet him.
