Welcome Tawny to RAGOM!  Tawny is a 12-year-old golden retriever, but she sure looks and acts much younger than that!  She is a peanut weighing in at 40 lbs!  Tawny came from a loving family but the kids would leave the gate open and Tawny took that as an open invitation to take off :)  I have a fence and she's made no attempts to escape if the gate is kept closed.

I have fallen in love with this sweet girl.  She is very easy going and a happy girl.  Tawny is a lovely, sweet, obedient, affectionate and a calm dog.  Sleeps in the car, easy on the leash when I walk with her.  She has a little bark when she wants to go outside and when she is trying to talk to me.  She doesn't beg for food, get up on furniture, is house trained and she sleeps on the floor next to my bed all night.  She likes to be talked to and petted. She follows me around and lays on the floor near me.  When my kids came home from college to meet her, she was very social and loved attention from them.  It was kind of sweet when she met my 20 year old daughter because they bonded right away and Tawny stayed close to her.  My kids agree, she is a wonderful dog.  Tawny has never been crated.

When I brought her into my house she immediately smelled my cat and sniffed her out in one of the bedroom closets.  She was so curious and obsessed with that cat.  I had her tethered to me for almost 2 days so noone would get hurt.  Now they just look at each other from a distance.  The cat can walk right past Tawny and she is still very curious, but not agressive at all.  I leave them alone in the house together and nothing has happened. The cat and Tawny are coexisting really well.

Tawny was very calm at the vet's office.  She has been microchipped and brought up to date.  She has a small wart on her nose that doesn't need anything done for it.  Everything else checked out great but we are still waiting on her blood tests.

Tawny's forever family would be with or without kids of any age.  With or without another dog, although she is awsome by herself.  She stays contained with a secure fence, maybe ok on a tie out.

Tawny says "hi" to all of her fellow fosters and all of the wonderful RAGOM volunteers. Today it's snowing and I'm happy and content to be in the house where I can nap and look out the window. Not much else to report because all is well.

Tawny is so sweet and loving. She is just so easy. Here is a picture taken of her yesterday.

This week has been another easy and wonderful time with Tawny. I feel very fortunate to have her with me because we give so much friendship and companionship to each other. I look forward to seeing her when I get home. When I walk in the door, she greets me with her tail wagging, I kiss her and pet her. Tawny rolls onto her back for a little tummy rub before we step outside so she can go potty. She is still a little curious about kitty, but I believe that Tawny longs to become friends with the cat. Kitty is very much at ease and relaxed about sharing our living space with her, however the understanding between them is, cat wants to be left alone and Tawny is respectful of that.

There are three big dogs who live next door, on the other side of the chain link fence. At first the other dogs would bark loudly and jump up and down, which seemed a little intimidating at first. As time went on, the dogs are used to seeing each other now. Tawny walks up to them and walks along her side of the fence as they walk along on their side. These dogs are socializing in a very good way. She is in good health and sleeps on the floor next to my bed all night. Although I know that she can hear, I think that she may be a little bit hard of hearing. She is a very dear girl.
