Taylor 09-016

Profile

Taylor is one of eight puppies to come to RAGOM on Friday, Jan. 16th.  The puppies are almost 6 months old.  I'm currently fostering Dane and Taylor.  I have had Taylor's shots done and she will be going in for her spay Thursday the  22nd.  Taylor is a happy go lucky dog, She loves her ball and to play with other dogs.  She will bark when you do not pay attention to her.  Both Dane and Taylor love attention.  Taylor is more outgoing!  She ignores the cat and has not chased it. She had no training prior to coming here.  We are working on some basics, potty training and sit and come and recognizing her name.  She is doing OK. The name and potty training are going the best.  I will send more updates soon!

An Update from the Family of Bozley 08-383 & Taylor 09-016...

Last summer we had the good fortune to learn about Ragom from a friend of ours. Our family was ready for another dog. Our 11 year old son wanted a big dog that would play catch and we wanted a rescued dog. That lead us to Bozley 08-383. He is a wonderful dog and we love him so much. We knew right away that one would not be enough, so six months later we adopted Taylor (09-016). We could not be happier! They are almost exactly one year apart in age. Right now, Bozley seems to have the edge when it comes to the many daily wrestling matches, but my money’s on Taylor once she is full grown. Either way, they are both sweet, loving, loved, healthy and happy. Attached are a few photos showing another fun game….chase around the shed.

A heartfelt, thank you, thank you, thank you….that’s all we can say.

Taylor has had a fun filled week.  She and Leroy (08-486) have been getting into no end of trouble - Leroy is the real trouble maker!  They wrestle constantly and are quite evenly matched.  One would think this would tire them out, but they just never stop.  It really makes me smile to watch them have so much fun.

Taylor went to PetSmart yesterday just to get weighed - 50 pounds, same as her wrestling partner.  She did wonderfully on the leash.  She met the cats that were there waiting for someone to adopt them.  Taylor was curious about the cats, but intrigued by all the birds. She just stared and stared at them - they knew to be afraid of a dog!

We met a little boy who was about 2 or 3 years old.  His mom asked him if he wanted to pet Taylor, he just smiled so Taylor decided to give him a big old kiss!  The boy thought it was great and started laughing.  This girl really loves kids.

We have been working very hard to find a new home for Taylor and have grown more and more attached to her - she is truly a wonderful dog.  We can't adopt her because our city only allows three dogs - and three big dogs in our little house would be INSANE!  Fortunately, we found a family who wants Taylor to come over for a play date with their RAGOM dog to see if she is a match for their family. Cross your paws and hope that Taylor has found her forever home!

Taylor had a great time meeting everyone at the Eden Prairie PetSmart event on Saturday.  She loved all the dogs, the adults and all the kids.  Speaking of kids, Taylor met Maren's niece and nephews right before the event and just loved them too!  I don't think kids will be a problem for this snugglebug of a girl.

Tay-Tay continues to experience new things everyday; remember, she lived in a pig barn for six months.  So far she is not afraid of anything we have exposed her to.  She doesn't even flinch around construction noise - hammers, sanders, air-nailers, Shop-Vacs.  They don't faze her one bit.  In fact, the only thing close to a fear reaction I have seen from this girl is when she got a little quiet after her foster brother got yelled at for running away down the alley!

If you think your family would be a good match for Taylor - like several families did this weekend - please contact placementatragom [dot] org so we can get her into your house ASAP.  Taylor is such a sweetie that it is going to be very hard to let her go!

Taylor's family is on a well deserved vacation and little Taylor is on a vacation of her own.  She made her way from Eagan to St. Louis Park on Sunday night.  After a quick growl from our resident golden queen, Sally, Taylor met our little Leroy, fka Madison 08-486.

The two puppies became instant best friends.  Taylor is 7 months old and Leroy is 6 months old so they are well matched wrestling partners.  Leroy's specialty move is the reverse hump quickly followed by a duck under leg nibble. Taylor will counter this with a quick roll escape and a flying ear grab.  After several hours of this, they have barely tired each other out.  (All spectators are completely exhausted watching these two for only a few minutes!)

Taylor is really gaining in confidence.  She was pretty shy about doorways and stairs when she got here, but now she flies throuh all sorts of new experiences with ease. We are continuing the training that her foster family started and she is doing well - no accidents here!

All she needs now is a new home to call her own.  Tay-Tay will need a home with another confident dog to show her the ropes and a good fence to keep her safe.  In return, she will give you lots and lots of love.

What's that I hear?  Silence?  Oh, wow!  The puppies have crashed hard for the evening.  Time to sneak off to bed to get some rest.  More on Taylor's new adventures soon...

New updates on Taylor!  Taylor is growing so fast! She has gotten a little taller and gained a couple of pounds.  Taylor is such a good puppy!  I get compliments all the time about how calm she is! Taylor is so smart, she learns new commands all the time.  I'm going to tell you about her typical week so you can get an idea of what a great dog she is. On most days we eat at 7:30 and 5:00.  She usually lays down while eating : ) We then play and lay around the house until 10:00 when I leave and I come home around 3:00.  Taylor is kenneled at this time!  Then the fun begins. Three times a week we go meet Miley (a lab puppy) and walk on a leader and play. Home for dinner and chasing the lazerpointer or fetch!  Then it's time for bed. Tay is now sleeping on our floor. She loves not having to sleep in her kennel.

We all hung out this last weekend at my sister's house  who has a 2 and a 7 year old.  Tay is very nervous if the 2 year old comes over and will just lay very still. The 7 year old, on the other hand, is very dog friendly and Taylor just eats her up. They played fetch and Tay would follow the 7 year old all over the house.  I think Tay will do great with a little bit older kids and will definitely do great with other dogs and cats.  Taylor can not wait to find her forever home. I think she will make a great second dog!  Taylor will melt your heart with her light golden eyes!  The next update will be a couple weeks as we are going on vacation!  Yeah!

We have a birth date of July 26, 2008 that makes Taylor a little over 6 months old. Dane had gone to a new foster home and Taylor has stayed here and has grown leaps since Dane left!  Potty Training is not training anymore she will stare at the door or bark once to go out.  Sit and come are going well; we are walking outside on a leash too!  She plays very well with my two resident dogs and meets and greets new dogs nicely. Her favorite part of the day is when we go walk with Miley a 5 month old lab. Taylor is very outgoing; loves toys and loves to cuddle. She is very very very cute. She is staying still for pictures so you can get a good picture of her now!

Her weight is at 42 lbs. Taylor is a great dog with a lot of personality. Is crate trained during the day and left to sleep out at night! She loves to chase balls and other toys. I work on fetch but with 3 dogs it get a little complicated. Taylor has met my nephew and was not sure what to think; she gave him a couple kisses and left him alone. She loves people so much. I think Taylor will make a great dog for someone!
