Taz 10-193

Profile

Taz is a wonderful 3 year old PB Golden.  After a brief stay in boarding, Taz was sprung to a new foster home.
Taz adjusted quickly and easily to life in his new foster home with 2 other resident dogs.  He does not seem to have a preference for any one person - he just loves anyone who gives him love.

He will be 4 in November and still has some puppy energy.  Taz enjoys playing with the other dogs in the house and isn't mean or rough.  He even plays more gentle with our 15 year old dog.  We need to do some work with him as far as walking on a leash, he just has so many new smells that he wants to take them in all at once.  He is basically unknown with cats, but there was a resident cat at the vets the other day and he did not seem to care.

Because of his puppy energy, Taz may not be a good fit for a family with very young children.  We have not had the chance to have Taz around younger children yet, but when we do I will report on how he does.  There was an incidence where Taz had bitten an 11 year old child prior to coming to our house.  No adults where around and it's unclear the circumstances of the bite.  The bite did not break the skin.  However, we have seen no signs of aggression in Taz at all.  I have had my hand in his mouth, his ears, tugged his tail, and taken a bone away from him and gave it back - all without incidence.

Taz understands the basic commands - "sit", "lay down", "stay" needs a little work, "no" and if he doesn't stop, saying "no" and placing your finger on the top of his nose gets his attention.  He waits patiently when food dishes are being brought out and will share the water bowl at the same time as our other dogs drink.  He sits and waits patiently for treats, his favorite being baby carrots.

Taz loves riding in the car and rides well in the backseat without jumping around.  The only issue is that he likes car rides so much that he tries to slip out the door to the garage whenever someone goes somewhere.  He will then stand looking at the car door hoping he gets to go.  No jumping on the car, he just stands there waiting for someone to open the door for him.

Taz has been micro-chipped, is on heartworm preventative, up to date on his shots, and was neutered last week. Once his stitches come out on Friday, July 30th he will be ready to find a forever family.

This is a dog who has a lot of love to give and loves to cuddle.  Taz is looking forward to being with a family that will love him and give him lots of praise.  If you would like to meet Taz, please let your placement counselor know.
