Tess (Misty 10-219)

Profile

I am Misty's temporary foster for a few days. I picked up Misty from a couple who lived on a farm in rural Rochester. They said this dog has been hanging around their property on and off about a week. They state she loved their grandchildren (around ages 8-10). I can vouch for that, she follows my 10 yr old daughter around and sleeps with her in her bed. She jumped right into my back seat and rode home with no problem. She loves humans. Came into my house and made herself at home. She ate the first night and followed me around, not shy at all. She is young, 1-3 year old, intact female, not vet checked yet. I gave her a bath and removed many mats from her fur. She is certainly part collie it appears by her ears and all that beautiful hair. She tolerated the bath fine, and did not mind being brushed out. I applied flea protection and she looks great. She is not house trained but she is so smart and easy to train for a youngster. She walks on a leash and is comfortable with taking walks. She has a good amount of energy, but after she goes for a walk she calms right down as you can see by the picture.  She was very comfortable meeting my resident dog and other foster Lacy 10-200 as well as my cat. At this time she resource guards her food and water only with the other animals. I can take her food away with no problem. She has some sensitivity with her dewclaws right now and chews on her nails. She would be a great addition for an active family.

Hello from Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  FM thought I should write something myself so here goes.  My name is Misty and I was lost and hungry when I was found in Minnesota.  Nice people took me in and then found me this home in Cedar Rapids.  Iowa is so nice and pretty and I really like it here.  I get to live on 4 acres with a pond and everything!  I love to roam around but FM likes me to stay in the yard.  I just can't help sometimes wanting to go and visit the neighbors.  I just love getting to know people.  I do like FM and FD the best though and I always come back when they call me.  We have a lot of fun.  I get to chase tennis balls and walk all around a big pond with FD.  At night, I get to sleep in their room but FD doesn't want me in the bed.  When he leaves for work in the am, I get in bed with FM and we cuddle a lot.  I love to cuddle!  It's so fun to be around people that will pet me and play with me.  I love to be petted.  It feels so good on my back!

This weekend FM and FD have to go on an overnight to a wedding.  I get to go over to Pete's, another FD to spend the night!  I am so excited.  I get to see some of my foster dog friends.  It will be so fun.  We have played before and we like each other.

FM always takes me in the car when she runs errands and that is the most fun ever!  Letting the wind blow against my nose out the window is like heaven to me.  I go with her a lot but if I can't go I have to stay in my kennel.  That's ok, then I catch up on my sleep and she's not gone very long.

We are going out to play now.  She's taking her iphone so I bet she takes a picture of me and sends it out.  She is so proud of me.

Gotta go, bye for now,

Misty

Misty is doing very well.  We have found up that she still has some of her stray wanderlust in her.  She will take off every once in a while to the neighbors but comes back pretty quick when we walk towards her.  I have been working with her in the back yard.   She definitely knows "come" but sometimes something just catches her eye and off she goes.  Not too far tho.  And I use a different tone when she does that, so she feels bad.  She slinks in the house and rubs against me.  She is so smart!

I took her to play with some other Ragom dogs and she had fun.  She also played with a friends 6 year old and had a ball.  She's gentle and fun.

She is my companion and pretty much goes everywhere with me.  Totally house trained and kennel trained.

Today they tested the tornado sirens in front of our house.  She sat at the front window and howled along with the sirens.  It was the funniest thing I have heard from a dog.  I was laughing so hard.  She wasn't scared, just wanted to sing along!

I am sure someone will love having Misty in their family.  I know she will love you!

My Internet has been down for over a week. I have to use my iPhone for emails. Misty is just getting better and better. She has been spayed and her stitches are out. She's been around kids and is wonderful. She likes to chase tennis balls. She doesn't chew anything but bones. No counter surfing and loves to ride in the car. She's housetrained and kennel trained. Someone will be very lucky to get her.

Great news! Misty is a healthy girl, her labs are normal and now has her heartworm prevention on board, she is feeling so much better now and ready for the last step of getting spayed after her antibiotics are finished for her UTI, Her symptoms are clearing up and as of recently have not had any accidents in the house. We had a long walk today with the gentle leader. She did great, as you can see, she is now well rested. I can't even imagine her potential with the right human match.
