6/18/06: Meet Tigger!

Tigger arrived this afternoon with 4 other dogs from an Iowa shelter, two of which are his brothers. He got a little car sick on his long journey, so quickly got two baths upon his arrival!! He now smells much better! He is approximately 6 months old, a dark red color, and already has the beginnings of some feathering on his legs. He is going to be one handsome boy!!

Since we've only spent a few hours with him our knowledge of his personality is limited. So far, he seems to be an extra sweet, Velcro type puppy. He enjoys cuddle time, but is also fond of play time and has already gathered all the soft squeaky toys he could find! He has so far ignored our two cats but seems to have a keen interest in the bunny rabbit. The resident Golden has tried to get him to play with only minimal success. We'll see if he perks up in a day or two. He's had a long day of traveling and is currently in sleep mode at my feet.

Tigger will visit the vet tomorrow morning for a general wellness exam and an update on his vaccinations. We will also schedule a date to have him neutered (don't tell him that though!).

If you're interested in a date with this adorable red-headed pup and you're an approved applicant, email placementatragom [dot] org. If you're not approved yet, don't wait too much longer as I am sure this boy will go fast!

Updates

Tigger made a return trip to the vet this morning since he had been itching at his ears and shaking his head quite frequently. He has a minor yeast infection in both ears that we are now treating with some drops. He is a trooper about letting me grease up his ears, especially when he knows there is a treat in it for him afterwards!! He picked up the "sit" command so fast that we are now working on "down" - what a smart puppy! He has also become our watch dog since he is so alert and gives a big-dog bark when other dogs pass by.

Just a few new pictures of Tigger tug with the resident Golden and also having a great time chewing on a rawhide!! The simple things in life :)
