Tonka has come back into Ragom – I have attached his leaving RAGOM picture and his new Picture.  Tonka was born on 4/28/07 and went to his first home in June.  Unfortunately he is coming back to RAGOM because the family is going through job changes and now Tonka would be left alone for a long  time and the family thought it be best to have him come back in.
 
I want to thank them for that!  So now you have the golden opportunity to meet this well adjusted loveable boy.  His adopted mom says the following about him.  “I want you to know that Rex is a wonderful dog, he is very caring, good with children, good around other dogs, Loves to ride in vehicles, loves belly rubs, and generally loves to follow me around where ever I go.  Rex has also started Dog one class!
 
Tonka met all three female dogs like a champ – Our Newfs think he is a blast and Sophee our golden thinks she found a friend for life.  He has started to settle in, but will need more time to get to know him.  We are going to bring him to the vet tomorrow to get his eye looked at – It looks like the eye lid is rolling in so we need to get that fixed.  Otherwise Tonka is up to date on his shots and has been neutered!
 
Tonka will be going to the Petco event and will hang out and do the usual meet and greet from 11 to 1, so please come out and meet this great boy, he looks forward to meeting you!

Hi Everyone – Tonka here – Mom finally got done brushing me so I thought I would send a quick update while she is making a new pillow with my fur.  I hate it when she throws it away, so she is making me a great pillow.  All my fur goes in this beautiful white plastic bag.  I just can not wait for it to get full.  I am not sure why it seems to be empty every time she brushes me, but I heard her say something about it flattens down so we have to get a LOT of fur off me.
 
Other than that I am so hoping the people who have showed interested in me, will come and meet me at Petco, mom is so excited to talk to a few people now that I am doing so well at the house.  Sophee, Mistee, Coal and I were all left alone for 4 hours when Ricky had his 18th birthday at the casino on Thursday night.  They said we were like angel’s here! 
 
I still love to be with dad in the garage but hate when he has this HUGE thing called an air compressor go off, but otherwise, I hang out with him since I can not play with Sophee because of my eye.  I finally got that STUPID cone off – let me tell you that was horrible.
 
Okay come visit me okay – Mom is coming and she wants to down load a few pictures of me – Love to everyone out there and have a great day – mom said it is almost Shorts weather today so we can be outside lots and go to a home visit after Petco!

Tonka had a wonderful weekend and went to his first Petco event which was a HUGE success and he loved every minute of it.  He than got to go on two Home visits.  To say the least he was a very tired boy most of the weekend, but not to worry, he got many good hours playing with Sophee too.  They have become fast friends and really enjoy each others company.

I really think that Tonka is going to need a home with another dog or with a family that will be home with him most of the time.  Tonka does not seek out humans as much as he seeks out the other dogs.  We noticed at both home visits we did he either wanted to play with the dog or come home.  So it was very enlightening.

Tonka had surgery this morning at 10:30 and we picked him up at 3:30, he is still very doped up and sleeping very comfortably as I write this.  I have taken a picture of his eye, I think it looks worse than it really is, but we won’t know the full extent until the swelling goes down, but for now he is doing well.

We are still looking for that perfect family for Tonka and we know you are out there, please gives Tonka a chance, he is such a great boy and I don’t think I can think of anything bad to say about him.   Heck he is even potty trained!  Contact PlacementatRAGOM [dot] org if you are interested in meeting him.

Tonka had to go into the vet this afternoon because his eye was really bothering him.  We found out the right eye has his eye lid rolling in two times!  Oh man, how painful.  The Left eye however looks great.  So this means he will need to go in for surgery on Monday morning and get an eye lift to get that lower lid to No longer roll in.

We also had his incision looked at from when he got neutered because that was a little weepy.  They found three sutures that were never taken out so they had to do a little cutting and pulling to get those out, but we hope that will help with this discomfort. 

Finally we have two ear infections!  UGH – so we got them cleaned tonight and will start the meds a little later.  We figured we had not stressed him enough so off to the groomers we went for a full out shampoo.  He was not happy about this event at all!  But he has his first layer of dirt off and his first two layers of dead hair.  We plan to keep brushing through out the evening to get him dried and hopefully get more hair out before we go to Petco tomorrow to meet all of his fans!

Tonka is a great dog, he loves other dogs, he loves people, I am not sure there is one bad thing I can say about this boy.  He weighed in at 70 pounds and is perfect weight; he has a huge block head and beautiful red long hair!  He loves working in the garage with foster dad Rick, he does not care about all the noise he just makes sure he lays in as much dirt and grim as he possibly can.  As you can imagine, we are not letting him go into the garage this evening and he is NOT happy about that at all.

He is definitely potty trained and will bark or paw at the door when he wants out.  He will jump up on you if you give him the opportunity but he does it very gently, however we do NOT let him do it and will continue working on this.  He does seem a little nervous around new situations so we will continue bringing him for walks and exposing him to lots of noises that generally do not spook dogs.  He is just such a love and wants to please you.

Tonka has not eaten since he got here so we decided to put Sophee and Tonka’s bowls together, well as soon as you can see he started to eat!  His other pictures are when he is still weight so once the fur is dry it will fill out and his face is one big block!
