Trucker has been a part of our family for a little over a week now and all I can say is that this puppy will steal your heart. He is such sweet dog and has a very golden personality. He loves attention and can be a little demanding when he thinks he isn't getting enough. Nothing bad, just the normal sticking his head under your arm when you're at the computer or nosing the paper or a book out of the way to put his head on your lap. After a few ear rubs and sweet talk, he goes and lays down mostly to chew on his rawhide bone. As you can tell from the pictures, he LOVES his bones.
Trucker and my resident senior golden get along just great and do a lot of playing as you can see from them both trying to have the same tug rope. However, when Cody lets him know that he's had enough, Trucker will leave him along until Cody is ready to play again.
Trucker is still very much a puppy and is still learning what's appropriate and what's not. He will jump when he's really excited but knows the word No and will then sit. The only thing that he has chewed on that was inappropriate was he found a couple of pens and chewed the plastic casings up (luckily no ink leaks). He has dug a couple of holes in the backyard but not in the yard itself. One was under the steps of the deck (still not sure how he got there) and the other was in some decorative gravel we have in one place. He would be easy to stop if I had caught him doing it but I didn't find them until after he was done.
Trucker has learned to play ball and will do so for as long as you're willing to throw it. He will bring the ball back to you (after running a couple of circles around you) and will either let you take the ball from his mouth or he will drop it on the ground. He has no resource guarding. You can put your hand in his food bowl and he will even let you take his beloved bones away from him. He's getting better every time we take a walk but a Gentle Leader is still a must. He is afraid of the vacuum cleaner monster. When we run it, he runs and hides either in my office or down the basement until the monster has been vanquished and it's safe for puppies again. He is still sleeping in a crate at night and goes in with no problems when you tell him kennel up. Of course he gets a treat every time for being such a good boy. We have been leaving him out for a couple of hours at a time when we're gone and there hasn't been any problems.
Trucker absolutely loves my 8 yr old grand-daughter. She can hug him, hang on him, and play with him and he just laps it up. He would be a great dog with kids but he may be a little too energetic for very small children. This is only because he may accidentally knock them down trying to love them.
If you're looking for a really sweet, very loving, energetic puppy to bring some sunshine and love into your life, Trucker is the dog for you. Contact placement
