Trucker 08-370

Profile

Everyone meet Trucker!!! Trucker was brought into RAGOM as a stray, so not much is known about his background. He arrived at our place last weekend after a long and exhausting trip from Iowa, and has settled in very well. Here's a quick fact sheet on Trucker:

  • Knows basic commands -sit, come, eat
  • Housetrained
  • Loves people
  • Loves belly rubs
  • Loves attention
  • Loves belly rubs (he really loves those - will roll over in a heartbeat)

That's not much, but knowing that he is in a totally strange environment he is doing quite splendidly. I am sure we will learn more wonderful things about this young man in the weeks to come. He is a quick study, and anyone with a little bit of time and dedication can turn this guy into a perfect companion for kids and adults. Trucker gets along quite well with my resident golden, though he wants to play all the time, and my guy just likes to prance around with toys in his mouth :)

Trucker got his first vet check up on Monday, and other than some deworming and a little antibiotics for an eye infection - came out with a perfect score. You should see the pearly whites on this kid - they are dazzling. Trucker weighed in at about 52 lbs - relatively small for a golden, but let me tell you there is more golden in this boy than you can tell by just looking at him. He loves to hold his toys, and loves his people.

Well the kid goes back to the vet later this week for a little nip & tuck job (he will get neutered), and will be ready for a forever home.

PS: For those of you wondering why the name 'Trucker' - remember racing stripes and the horse that trained racehorses. Here's a quote about Trucker 'He may be too small to stand a chance in a race himself, but he's got more than enough horse-sense to know what it takes.'

And now, here are a few pics from the Trucker's weekend adventures:

Hello everyone! Figured I should write in post-adoption and let you guys know how things are going.

Everything is just fabulous!!! My new forever family is a lot of fun. Shadow and I are BFF's already and Seth is the best human sibling to have. I figured out a novel way to make him give me treats - I hold his arm and take him to the treat jar ;) he thinks it is so clever & funny; and I get all the treats I want. So we all win.

OK so here's some parting advice from a long time RAGOM resident - hang in there you newbies, and the perfect family will find you:) As for RAGOM, thank you so very much for taking such good care of me. I will always be a huge fan and supporter.

Well take care and see you guys at the next RAGOM event.

Hi everyone! Just checking in real quick to say hello and give you guys the latest on what's going on in my life.

I have had a great winter so far. FM & FD will be back from vacation in a couple of days and I have had a blast with Shadow & his family. They are so much fun to hang out with. Shadow loves to play just as much as I do, and the kids just love me - let me sleep on their bed and play with me. It has been a wonderful winter. See pic of me with my snow nose :)

But now that FM will be back soon, I figured it's time to get back to business and find my forever family. I just want to point out a few things I am looking for in my forever family:

  • Active family
  • No kids under the age of 8
  • Fenced in yard

In addition I get along well with Cats (passed my cat test earlier this week with flying colors) and would love to have a four legged doggy friend to play with.

Well I got to run now - time to play a little fetch and get to bed. Talk to you later.

Hello everyone. Just checking in for a quick greeting and to let you guys know how much fun I am having. Don't have much time to write in detail - can do that once FM & FD are back from vacation and I get some R&R. So for now I am going to let the pics tell you my story.

Here's a chapter from the book titled "Trucker the Golden's play date with Shadow the Lab" - approved for children 5 and above;) More to follow in the next few weeks.

Have fun & stay warm!

Oh no u don't get the sok, I saw it first

Hi everyone. How are things going? I am trying to enjoy my days in the frozen tundra. Hope you guys are staying warm.

I have a whole bunch of interesting things going on in my life at this time. FM & FD are away on a long vacation - visiting family, so I get to go stay with another foster family for almost a month and I am loving it. I get to play with the kids and run around the back yard with Shadow the big black lab - It's a lot of fun let me tell you! I also got to go to Orphan Annie's thank you party this weekend. It was lots and lots of fun. I got to meet a lot of folks and everyone loved me - hey I am a greatly lovable guy!!! (See below for a pic of me with one of my newly found fans). Well other than that life is pretty normal.

Got to go now. Take care and have fun.

Hi everyone!!!! Ho Ho Ho!!!! It's the season for luv and fun - translates to lots of treats and toys in my world;) and of course lots of time with FM and FD since they are home for the holidays. Though come to think about it I am not sure I am too happy about that - too much of everything.....

Well FM promised she would take me to the store next week, and let me "pick" my fav toy(s). I think she said toys (not toy), so I am all excited about that. So excited that I am resting up and helping her with the update so she knows what a good boy I am (see attached pics). On the good boy note, I just remembered I heard FM talking to her friend on the phone, and telling her how well behaved I am becoming. he he he!!! She also tells me how pleased she is that I have learned to calm down and relax. I am glad she is happy, because all I want to do is please her and make sure she loves me and gives me lots of hugs and kisses. So I guess I am shaping up to be one perfect dog!!!! Hey remember I never admitted to being humble ;)

Oh I never got to thank Bud and his FM. I stayed with them for a while when FM & FD where on a vacation. It was lots of fun!!!! Anyways, I get to visit Charlie and his folks while FM & FD are off again in Jan - the way I see it I get my own little vacation and adventure all rolled into one. How exciting is that!!!! New people to beg from and play with. Oh yes and FM tells me Charlie has 2 little human siblings as well, and that would be a great thing for me - I will learn to respect the little ones and maybe if I do well enough I don't have to rule out a forever home with kids. Oh I am soooo excited!!!!!

Well I better get moving now - time for my beauty sleep. GN everyone and have a great Christmas and a wonderful New year!!!!!

Here I am writing my update...

Uh Oh! I think I see a typo.

Hey, J, u want to proof read for me?

Whew! That was exausting!

I had the privilege to have Trucker as a guest in my house while his foster parents were traveling. He is a sweetie of a dog. He is very energetic and really entertained my foster dog, Bud 08-553. Trucker is a fantastic walker, uses the Gentle Leader well and I am betting would be an even better runner!

After the energy wears out, as it does in everyone, Trucker is the sweetest little piece of velcro. He would cuddle with me and keep my feet warm. It was so nice to come home to Trucker because I have never had anyone, human or canine, so excited to see me. He is a real gem of a dog.

Hello everyone! How are things going? I have been quite busy lately, learning new stuff and getting smarter by the day:) Though I am pretty bummed that summer is already behind us, but I guess the snow can be a lot of fun too....we shall see.

Well, FM says I have changed a lot in the last few months - for the good mostly :) My fur is soft again -no more wiry hair for this pretty boy, and I have learned to be patient and wait my turn (most of the time). Let's see what else can I talk about...oh yes the pics I promised..FM got some of J & I wrestling at last, so here u r. Enjoy!!! Oh btw, I am thinking of selling some tickets for a match sometime soon - make some change and get myself something cool for the holidays ;) great idea huh!!! Take a look at the pics and tell me you don't think this is box office worthy.

Oh btw, FM & FD are going on a trip next week, and I get to go over and stay with Champ 08-439. Should be fun. I will let you guys know once I get back home after Thanksgiving. Well happy turkey-day everyone. TTUL.

Hiya everyone!!! Howz it going? Summer has come and gone - so fast and so swift it's unbelievable. I hardly remember the warm weather. I have had some great times this summer with my new foster family. In addition I also found a really interesting 'creature' in the yard. FM called it a 'bunny'. All I know is that it looks like some of the stuffed toys I love to play with (sometime I play kill the stuff toy - know that game anyone???!!!); and this one moves away from me - actually runs when I try to get close to it. I bet you if I can lay my hands on it I can make it squeak. Ohhhhhhh I am looking forward to that. I watch for the moving stuffed toy from the kitchen window, and the deck door any opportunity I can get - which is almost all day everyday!!! Also anytime FM can send me out I go out and walk the yard really quietly - walking stealthily to make sure I am not heard; trying to find the 'moving toy' - is it the energizer bunny??? Well stay tuned for my bunny adventures and maybe you'll find out more.

FM took a few pics of me 'stalking' the bunny - u know I am not kidding here!!! I am going to get you!!!

Well it has been raining and raining and raining some more all these days, and I figured the best way to spend a rainy evening is to sit down and tell you guys a little more about myself and what I am looking for in a family.

So where do I start...

FM says I am getting a little better/more quiet as I settle in and get used to my routine. I do still like troubling Jedi ;) but I have also learned to keep myself busy and out of trouble at the same time. That's a big achievement for me. When left alone, I like to keep myself entertained with a noisy squeaky toy - so if you don't like noise I am probably not the guy for you.

I am a great guard dog - no one can come too close to my window without me alerting the rest of the household. FM was initially worried that she never heard me bark for weeks - I took care of that in the last few weeks here. Jedi has taught me to be a good guard dog!!

I like kids and get along splendidly with the them when they come over to play, but keep in mind I am a highly active young man and still need some training, FM thinks I will be better off with a family that does not have little kids - so kids 10+ would be a good age.

In addition I will need an active family. I am no couch potato, and need to burn off my energy on a regular basis. Probably the Chesapeake in me - that also explains my curly coat.

I like playing fetch, but am not too crazy about it – I do get bored after a while, and would rather chase Jedi around the yard or just run around...a fenced-in yard would be a good thing for me.

Oh yes I better not forget to add a little must have: love giving hugs and kisses, and love getting belly rubs - see pics; so be ready to give some and get some when I am around!

In short I am loyal, good natured and energetic. That should be a good place to start. If you are interested in learning more about me and would like a cute guy in your life, write a note to placementatragom [dot] org.

Oh and I will be at the RAGOM picnic this coming Saturday, so you can always ask for me and come meet me in person. Just don't be surprised if u fall in love with me...he he he!!! (who ever said I was humble!)

Time to get some zzz. ttul

Hmm... what can I do here...

Settle in for a nap maybe

Open the door please

Hey J, can u see what I see?!

OK I need a belly rub please

Ooooh that feels sooo good

I swear it ran out this way
