Meet this GORGEOUS red boy, named Red! Red came to us today with the help of an amazing transport volunteer. This wonderful lady drove very far to pick him up, and even sent him to his foster home with a new toy!
Red was a stray, so we don't know much about his history. He is estimated to be 2 years old, and we'll double check that when he goes to the vet this week to get neutered! So far we've determined that Red is house trained. Even if he has to go to the bathroom, he waits until he is let outside. Red is also very gentle and calm. We wonder if someone, at some point loved Red very much and trained him to be polite, because when Red wants attention he sits very calmly next to you. He doesn't paw, or jump, he just sits like a polite gentleman!
Red has met several dogs today, and did wonderfully with all of them! All ages, genders and sizes of dogs seem to be just fine with him. He also met a couple of kids, the youngest of which was 9 years old, and he did wonderfully. When Red first got to our house today, it took a few minutes of coaxing to get him to come up the stairs. Being in a home seems like a pretty new experience for him in a lot of ways. He seems to really like the fact that he can go outside, but there are always humans at the door to let him back in....we think he really likes everything he's learning about being in a home! Although some things make him a little nervous, he's already picking up on everything so quickly...and being so brave, that we hope in the very, very near future he will have learned that everything is safe and wonderful!
There is however, one thing that Red (and I) will be spending a lot of time working on in the near future. Red is extremely thin and we will be giving him three meals a day for a few days to make sure he's eating (well) and that he doesn't get an upset stomach from his new food. He's a beautiful boy with fantastic feathering and long, beautiful red fur.
We will send in updates frequently as we get to know this beautiful, sweet, affectionate and wonderful boy. From what we've seen of him so far, we think he'd be good in a variety of different homes.
