Valentine 08-094

Profile

Hello! My name is Valentine and I have enclosed some pictures so you all can see what I look like. My fur is very, very soft and it is a pretty red color. It now smells so good because I had a bath today. And I was a good girl for my bath, too!

I was born on 9-25-07 so that makes me about 5 months old. I am a pure bred Golden with a positively precious personality that will make someone an awesome companion! I lived the first five months of my life in a kennel so all this human interaction is making me a tad bit nervous. I'm shy but oh, so sweet; and, even though I'm shy I will follow you around everywhere. I don't want to be left behind.

I had to leave my brother Cupid today and that made me so sad i I will watch for his pictures to appear on the RAGOM website.

I am curious girl and in great spirits. I'm so happy that I have been rescued. I'm up to date on all my shots. A little skinny and lanky, but that's ok. I have ALOT OF PUPPY STUFF to learn in the upcoming weeks. Housebreaking, crate training, commands, stay off the counter.... and my foster mom thinks I will do wonderful!

I'm a special girl looking for a special home. Please watch for my updates.

And I would like to give a special thanks to Lisa.... who helped me start my journey.

Val has some exciting news to share:

On Saturday morning, a young woman came to meet me.... and a young man too! I liked them both and went over to them immediately so they could pet me and give me attention. They even took me for a walk. Apparently, they liked me too! and said I was "cute"!

The young woman asked me if I would like to go home with them and have a permanent family to love and care for me. I was so happy... and scared all at the same time. I tried to be brave when I told my foster family goodbye... and hopped into the car for a ride to Minnesota. My foster parents told me that I found a great new family... and I trusted them.

Here are some pics of Valentine and her new family:

Sweet Valentine continues to do well in her foster home. New experiences to share include: leash training, visiting PetSmart, jumping on the couch and bed, and learning how to go up and down steep flights of stairs. Way to go Val! She also knows her name and is very obedient when you tell her “no”. If she is chewing on something inappropriate and you tell her to stop, she will immediately do so.

She knows the command “sit” and we think she knows the command “lay down”. What a smart young girl! Housebreaking is going well.

We had a trip to the vet today and her stool sample came back negative. She is up to date on all of her shots and is approaching 6 months of age. She did lose one of her baby teeth last week.

Val's foster parents are looking for a home that will spend lots of quality time with her. She is still a young pup and needs lots of love, an assuring hand, and training. We would like a family that is willing to show some extra patience with Val because she is still trying to build her self-confidence and discover her world and at times Val wants to run and hide. She was neglected the first few months of her life. We strongly prefer a fenced in yard because Val has a skittish personality and I have begun to discover that it is very hard to predict what might frighten her. Therefore, for her safety and your peace of mind, I think a fence would be best. We think Val would thrive and get along great with other dogs; however, we also think she would enjoy being the only dog. She gets jealous when we show our own two resident dogs attention and nudges her way in and nudges them over. Val has not been introduced to cats but she shows no aggression towards humans or dogs. Val can be crated during the work day if her adoptive family works full time. She keeps her crate clean and will happily jump in if you throw a treat in for her!

Thanks for considering Valentine.

Valentine, as you can see from her recent pics, likes to smile! She always seems very happy and very busy.... she's on the go running from room to room and observing all the new parts of her world. She has finally left her previous world behind and interested in learning what doggy life is really all about.

She is currently eating Nutro doggy food twice daily and is starting to eat puppy biscuits and chew on rawhide bones. When she first came into foster care, she would not take treats from us, which seemed really strange. Now she loves them! She is a good eater and loves racing over to her water bowl...sloppily drinking. She does not yet play with doggy toys.... cannot seem to figure out what they are?

We keep Val in a crate when we are gone and so far she is keeping her crate clean except for a few accidents in the beginning. She is doing fairly well with housebreaking.... I think she is learning that the proper place to "go" is outside but she is not completely housebroken. Val sleeps quietly in her crate at bedtime.

Val shares her foster home with two resident dogs and gets along well with them and enjoys their company. She would love to continue to have lots of doggy interaction in her adoptive home.

When you pick Val up, she will lay her head on your shoulder. She is cuddly and sweet and submissive.

She will need a patient forever home to help her work through some of her fears and assure her that she is safe and loved. At her young age, she will need continued training, but will no doubt mold into a terrific pet.

Please consider adopting her.... you will not regret it!
