Violet 09-263

Profile
I would like to introduce you to Ms. Violet. Violet is a black Golden Doodle. She looks more Poodle than Golden but she has the personality of a pure breed Golden. Violet is 3 years old and weighs 52 lbs. She has silver / blonde / gray hair which could mean the poodle part of her was a two-tone color white/black. She has been spayed and is up to date on all her shots. She will be going to the Vet on Thursday for her wellness check and then will be ready to be adopted. Violet was surrendered by a loving family who found she did not have the kind of time Violet needed. She is clipped short but the hair on her ears is very curly and very, very soft.
Violet is pure sugar. She loves to snuggle at night on the couch and in bed. She will sleep right next to you up close which as been really nice with these cold nights we have been having. She LOVES to play fetch and will keep playing until your arm just can't make one more throw. When she first arrived she was a little nervous about her new surroundings, but it did not take her long to fit into the routine. She has free roam of the house when I am away at work and there have not been any issues. She might be a counter surfer. The SO said so on the form. I came home to find a plastic cup chewed up but with resident Max in the house it is hard to say who the culprit is. She and resident Max have started wrestling and playing together a lot more. Violet would be great with another dog or just fine going to a home where she will be Queen Violet! Violet has been around cats and kids and is great around both. She came from a family who had 4 children all under the age of 6.
Violet does not bark hardly at all. When someone comes to the house, she sounds an alarm but then runs to find something, anything for that person to throw. Violet will throw the ball at your feet trying to engage you in play. Too cute, unless you have no shoes on. Her surrendering owner said that Violet will eat socks. I have not seen any evidence of that.
Violet is not much for going into the water, but she is definitely a rock climber. She climbs all over the rock/pond feature in the back yard, with never a slip and miss step. You would think she was part mountain goat.
Violet is a sweet young girl who really is a charmer. She would make a good jogging partner as she does not seem to tire from chasing balls. She was very persistent about finding a ball that went into the neighbors yard. I tried to find, it but could not locate it in the huge patch of day lillies. Between Violet and Max I was concerned that they would dig their way to China trying to get to the ball. Finally one day I put Violet on a leash and took her next door. Within moments she had found the ball and now all is well at the fence line. She will pick up a scent and she looks like a pheasant hunter with her nose to the ground.
I have a patch of yard that I am trying to grow grass so I have put up a snow fence to keep the dogs out. One day a bad throw sent the ball over the snow fence. Violet was not fazed a bit. She cleared the snow fence without a problem. I feel Violet needs a fenced yard and from seeing her clear the snow fence, the fence needs to be at least a 4 1/2 foot. I think given the chance she will run. She likes to play "keep away" as well as fetch. Without a fence you might be chasing her into the next county.
Violet will need training especially due to the "keep away" game she wants to play. She does not know a lot of commands, but will do a sit when told. She rides well in the car and is ok on the leash. She seems to be somewhat scared of long stairways but does fine on my short 4 steps up modified split level house. She has not been to the basement, even when everyone else follows me to do laundry. And since she follows me everywhere else in the house to be near me all the time, I would say stairs just aren't her thing.
If you are looking for a cuddle bug who will get you off the couch to play Violet is your girl.
