It is with a very heavy heart that we inform you of Virginia's walk to the Rainbow Bridge today. "Ginny," as she was affectionately called, was without a doubt, the most beautiful dog anyone could ever wish for. As noted in her very first RAGOM update, Ginny was described by her foster mom as, "a big fuzzy lover that LOVES to be petted, loves attention and will lean in for all the free rubs anyone has to offer and if you stop, she will put her paw on you as if to say, 'Please don't stop." I smiled as I reread that today because I would have described her the very same way today as I write her final update. Sadly, Virginia's legs could no longer hold her up, and after much consideration, her adopted mom Natalie provided Virginia with her final act of love and helped her to the Bridge. Just shy of 12 yrs. old, this girl lived life and did it her own way! Ginny never met a meal she didn't like, a hole she couldn't make bigger, and a person she couldn't make smile! Sometimes stubborn as an OX, yet always sweet as pie, Virginia had a zest for life that you couldn't deny. Virginia was also a wonderful ambassador for RAGOM and along with her mom, shared her story everywhere they went. We had the privilege of dog sitting Virginia for 8 months last year while Natalie recovered from surgery and there wasn't a time when mom didn't have a special treat waiting for her girl when she came for her weekly visits. Natalie always said that she couldn't have gotten through it without her Ginny!
We had many dogs pass through our home while Virginia was with us. Virginia was a natural "foster sister" and proved to be just what many of our foster dogs needed during their time at our home. She was never confrontational, always welcoming, and knew just when to give a dog a little extra love when they needed it most.
Virginia was also a frequent "smile giver" on our visits to the nursing home where she had so many friends and while tagging along with mom to choir practice. A true Golden Lover Girl through and through, Virginia left her mark on every 2-legger and 4-legger she met and we are all grateful to have had her in our lives.
Thank you Natalie for giving Virginia five wonderful years of the Golden Life she loved and very much deserved. I imagine Virginia is running like the wind right now, free of her failing legs, and free to be the sweet happy girl we all know her to be. I know she will be there waiting for her belly rubs with her tongue rolled out when she greets you one day. Be sure not to forget to bring her favorite rawhides with you! Sincerely, |
