Wesley (Foster 11-357)

Profile

Foster is a sweet 18-month-old Golden Retriever mix who is up-to-date on vaccines and is neutered. He had an accident in our house the first night we brought him home. However, we believe it was due to him being just plain confused after traveling all day from MO and being in a strange new home with a new family. He has not done that since, so we believe he is housetrained. He respects baby gates and our 3’ high backyard fence.

He was surrendered by his elderly owner who felt Foster just had too much energy to handle. He is very energetic and loves to run and play with our 6-month-old resident Golden. Despite being young, Foster is surprisingly mellow, follows us around the house, and is a big, furry snuggler. In fact, he seems to be perfectly content to sit next to us and be petted as long as we will comply. As most pups, he loves to chew, and we have had a few choice items destroyed because they were within his reach. He will also tear apart plush toys, so we provide him with bones to chew, and he seems quite content with those. He seems to want to please us, so "No!" gets good response from him.

Foster knows a few basic commands such as "sit" and "down", and we are working on "stay" as well as going potty on command. He is very motivated by treats! He currently pulls on leash walks, so we recently acquired a Gentle Leader. However, we haven't used it yet. We'll let you know on future updates how that goes.

Foster does well with strangers. He was very trusting of us when we picked him up. Last weekend we had a family of 6 come visit one evening, and Foster welcomed them as one of our family. He's great with children 10+. We haven't tested him yet with younger children or cats.  When things are quiet in the house, Foster seems to exhibit a bit of sadness, pacing the house and looking out the front window, as if he is waiting to go back home.

Please consider this sweet, young Golden who would return your love unconditionally!
