4/13/06: Willy arrived late Monday night from northern Minnesota. He is a purebred Golden Retriever. He is almost three years old and weighs 67 pounds. He was surrendered to RAGOM because his previous owner was no longer able to care for him. Willy visited the vet this week and is now up to date on all of his vaccinations. He is scheduled to be neutered on Tuesday. He has a sore right front paw and isn?t putting much weight on it. The vet will check into this more during our visit on Tuesday. As you can see from one of the pictures, Willy has a scar on the left side of his snout. It seems Willy had an adventure with a porcupine sometime in his previous life.

Willy is one of the sweetest dogs we?ve ever fostered. He loves attention from people. He is very calm and handles ear cleaning, brushing, baths, and riding in the car like a pro. We haven?t tried going for a walk (because of his paw), but he doesn?t pull at all on the leash when we?re out in the yard. We?ll let you know more about Willy as we get to know him better! We are thrilled with our new family member, Willy. He is loving and gentle, and very calm in our busy household with our two toddlers. With each passing day, Willy is showing more of his playful personality. He is a sweet soul. Our vet pronounced him fit as a fiddle, with beautiful teeth. Willy heels perfectly on a leash, and responds well to basic commands. He’s enjoying good dog food, a fluffy new bed, and lots of affection. The two boxers next door have barked excitedly at their new neighbor, and Willy just eyes them with dignity and detached amusement!

Adopting an adult dog can be an unknown, and we are so glad that took the plunge with our four-legged friend. Thanks for making the process simple and stress-free. We will wholeheartedly recommend RAGOM to anyone looking for a Golden Retriever.
