Winnie 07-383

Profile

Winnie is a 10 year old purebred Golden. She may be 10 years old but to look at her you would never know it. Our family calls her Miss Winnie as she thinks she is a princess. If she could wear a tiara she would be the perfect princess. Winnie has no resource guarding, she pretends the Resident Golden doesn't exist and she is the most important one of the household. Winnie is good with kids, she seems to love men and boys and listens best to them.

Winnie loves balls and loves to be outside. At the present time she is residing in North Dakota and last week it was bitter cold here, Winnie had to be begged to come in for fear she would freeze. I think she liked the fact that we were begging her. She also thinks anytime we come home with a shopping bag whatever is inside must be for her. Her favorite spot is laying by the fireplace or on the sofa...

Winnie has had a few busy weeks, she spent the 4th at the lake where she met an Austrailian something or other named Blaze and an English Sheep Dog named Bentely. Winnie did not mind either of them, she basically ignored them cause she is a diva.... She did not like the fireworks, foster dad loves the loud ones, the louder the better and neither resident golden or Winnie approved of them. I don't like them either..... Winnie spent lots of time swimming and riding on the pontoon, if she could only ride in the boat or the jet ski.....

The next week Winnie had her grammy staying with her, we had a baseball tournament out of town. It was grueling... Winnie helped grammy bake, she loves to bake and is very good about clean up duty... She also protects grammy at night by sleeping on the bed with her.... Grammy doesn't let any dog sleep on the bed with her except for Winnie.... that's a real feat on Winnie's part... I always say it is because they are the same age... ha, ha. Winnie was very happy when we returned home, I think she missed us....

This past week we were at the lake again and Winnie did the usual things she loves to do, swim, dig rocks out of the lake, sun herself and sleep. She helped me bake cookies (that's her favorite) and Rice Krispy Treats (those are her favorites) she stood guard over the cookies making sure they were okay while they cooled, she didn't even try to counter surf... and did I mention she is great on clean up duty...

We took Winnie out fishing with us, that didn't go so well, she kept wanting to jump in after the bobber, I guess she has great water instincts when it comes to retrieving...

Winnie loves to be outside, swimming, chewing on sticks and digging up rocks, she loves the pontoon rides and basically loves to be outside. She would be a great companion for an older person or a family, she loves kids and lets them play with her and give her lots of love and kisses and itchies and scratchies....

Here is a pic of Winnie riding to the lake with her head on a watermelon... she is just so cute!

Just a update on Winnie aka Miss Winnie...

Winnie has decided she likes to go to baseball games with me, she likes to sit on the bleachers (silly girl, more visability). I'm not sure if she really likes to watch baseball or if it's just a special bonding for us... She also gets lots of itchies and snacks at the games.... I tend to go for the snacks. :) She has also been enjoying the water at the lake, she loves to swim and ride on the pontoon. We haven't taken her on the boat as I don't think it would comfortably fit 2 goldens and 3 people... I guess we should try. Winnie hasn't been afraid of loud noises but I guess this weekend being the 4th of July will really put it to the test. She has become very fond of a little 5 year old boy at our lake place, when Winnie is at the lake Grant is beside her most of the time, he calls her "Skinny Winnie" not because she's skinny. She is just right.

We have been working with Winnie on table manners, she has been very good for about a month about counter surfing, but had a slip this week, she just couldn't help herself, she had a beef stick and a whole piece of pizza. Pizza is her weakness although she does enjoy a little ice cream now and then. Basically she likes everything and loves everyone except for a Border Collie we babysat a few weeks ago, her name is Smootchie but Winnie called her Cujo.... I always thought Winnie was Alpha but I don't think so anymore, Smootchie is definitely a Alpha and she would snarl and paw at Winnie and Winnie would cower. It wasn't a good weekend for Winnie but as soon as Cujo I mean Smootchie went home Winnie was reaped with rewards of tons of love and itches and hugs. She is the sweetest gal around, she has a great personality, our 12 year old son is so attached to her, he is constantly touching her or hugging her and, of course talking to her, she just allows him to boy handle her... she stills loves to play with balls and she likes sticks too... she has been a great help picking up sticks for me before I mow the grass.

I will write more after the 4th.

Later!
