Winston is a lucky boy to be going to his forever home with two wonderful parents and a new Golden Retriever sister who is only one month older than he! Through multiple play dates, they are already best friends and could hardly stand to separate while the adoption process occurred.

Winston has shown so much improvement on his anxiety over the past couple of weeks and even sleeps through the night. His favorite toys are his large stuffed Golden Retriever dog toy, and his chocolate covered strawberry squeaky toy.

Winston loves chewing bones, going on long walks, and snuggling with all of his toys on the couch. Winston stole his foster family's hearts but we know he will live his best life in his new home!

Please welcome Winston to RAGOM! Winston is an adorable Golden Retriever who has lived in a few homes during his first couple years of life. He has been in his foster home for 2½ weeks and is learning that it is a safe space to relax, play, and (his favorite) snuggle.

Winston loves his foster siblings, a 15-pound senior dog and a playful cat, so he can go to a home with either animal. He also plays well with all of the friends he has interacted with including hyper puppies, energetic large dogs, and slower seniors.

He follows our resident dog around outside and likes to lay by him on the couch. Having another dog has helped Winston adjust to his new doggy life. For this reason, Winston's forever home must have a resident dog to show him the ropes. However, Winston is much more aware of where the humans are at all times and will crawl onto human’s laps to get all the love.

As we work from home, Winston has not been alone much but when he has been, he has done much better when his foster sibling is next to him on the couch. He finds comfort in his numerous stuffed toys that he brings onto the couch with him to cuddle. At the end of a day, you can expect his spot on the couch to be filled with 5+ toys surrounding him.

Winston does suffer from anxiety, likely due to his numerous homes in the past two years, so will cower to loud noises, including loud walking and doors being closed. However, he has already shown improvement over the past few weeks and no doubt he will continue to gain confidence with adequate love and comfort.

Winston has not been around children in his foster home but we were told he grew up with children so would likely be just fine. However, Winston does get scared of loud noises so the children should be 5+ years old and would need to be respectful of Winston and his anxieties.

Winston shows fear of his crate but since we feed him in the crate, he is learning that it is a safe space associated with yummy food! At night, Winston sleeps on his cozy dog bed right by his foster mommy’s bedside.

As his anxiety lessens, Winston is beginning to sleep longer throughout the night but does still require Foster Daddy to get up with him once or twice. After he goes to the bathroom, he comes right back to Foster Mommy’s side of the bed.

In Winston’s ideal world, he gets to go on daily walks, play fetch in a backyard with his doggy siblings, and fill the time in between snuggling with his humans on the couch.

Winston’s forever home will require another dog and a fenced-in yard. While Winston is learning to LOVE long walks and jogs on the leash, he is most comfortable free roaming in the fenced backyard. He has picked up on his retriever instincts and is slowly learning that fetch is a fun game where you actually bring the ball back to the thrower.

According to the vet, Winston is in excellent health and will be cleared to adopt following his neuter on February 16.
