3/10/07: Hi! I'm Xena - or you can call me Xeener Weener, as my new foster mom calls me. And I guess I'm a keeper, as she said. I'm a sweet little grandma, a little chubby, but we are working on that, and the vet said I looked great. He said I might have some allergies, probably mild because my skin is fine but my eyes are a little red. I kiss the cat here, but he doesn't like it. I ignore the other dogs here - there are so many it is a little overwhelming. I whine to my new foster mom when I have to go outside andI know basic commands.

Yesterday after we got home from the Humane Society, mom cut out my mats and then she started the shower and she told me to get in and I did!! Boy, I sure got a lot of kisses for that :) It felt so good, I don't know what the big deal was. I had a little trouble winding down last night so mom, me and another little three legged dog slept on the couch. That dog is just here for awhile so she gets special treatment because she only has three legs and I guess I get special treatment because I am just a sweet ol' grandma! I like the food here and I LOVE treats. I also love to go for car rides, so I guess we get to go take that little black, three legged dog to her new home and I get to ride along. I just like to lounge around and watch the action. My mom said she can't believe that anybody could live without me! So....I guess I really am a "real keeper!"

April 15 may be a day of dread for taxpayers but it was a great day for Xena.  She was adopted by Ray and Shirley M and has headed off to be pampered, loved, and treasured. Ray and Shirley are terrific folks who have had many dogs over the years and simply believe a home without a dog is an empty home. By the time we were done, the foster parents wanted to go live with them!! We love you Xena and will be taking up the open offer to visit once you get settled in.

Xena is doing well and improving with each day. She has always been a very needy dog with some insecurities but we have been working on these issues with the help of more experienced foster moms. Xena is a 7 year old spayed female, up to date with all her shots and full of boundless energy. She loves everybody, is very friendly and wants to be outside as much as possible. She would do well in a family with older children and needs a fenced yard.Xena has lost weight and needs a family committed to keeping her at the proper weight. She still needs to lose about 10 lbs. Since we don't have a yard, we walk Xena 4-5 times a day and one of those outings is usually a 4-5 mile walk. She never gets tired of being outside. She is completely trustworthy in the house, has never had an accident and is well behaved when left alone. She does not counter surf but is very interested in people food but we strictly adhere to dog food with an occasional treat. She loves to cuddle, likes soft squeaky toys and wants to be with you every second. Xena would be a great pet for any family but would do best where someone is home most of the day.
