Yorek (Bearon 08-172)

Profile

Introducing Bearon! Bearon is a 1 year old (almost... his birthday is Friday, 4/4!) male, Golden Retriever mix. Bearon arrived at his foster home in Oakdale today after having a sleep over with another volunteer (thanks Michele!). He was surrendered to a shelter in southern MN by a family that had adopted him from that same shelter as a puppy. The family had quite a bit of land as I understand it... and no fence, the children in the family were continuously leaving the door open and Bearon would wander out and "run away". I must use the words "running away" loosely... because most dogs... especially untrained puppies would do just as Bearon had done if given the opportunity. That is how this wonderful guy found his way into the RAGOM family :-) Lucky Bearon! And Lucky foster family!

What a great guy!! Let me tell you what I know so far about this GEM of a dog. Bear is BEAUTIFUL... he is about 65 lbs, but looks bigger, he is tall and thin, but has a very fluffy coat and tail! Bear is 100% house trained, LOVES other dogs and is GREAT with the entire crew here.... our 2 GR (3 &1), resident yorkie, foster brother Max and the visiting pup Mo! Great with kids (lived with young children previously, and was great with overnight foster mom's grandchild!), very loving, happy, and social! Has a very charming and sweet personality! He knows the basics (sit, down, come) but will need obedience training to help him learn to be the best dog he can be. He pulls quite a bit on the leash, but is excellent with a Gentle Leader. He loves to ride in the car, and loves people! He is very much a puppy in a big body and will need regular exercise to take care of that puppy energy. He is not overly hyper at all... he just has a normal energy level for a 1 year old. Bearon is totally UTD on vaccines and has been neutered. He is just fine with free roam of the house, and is just all and all a wonderful dog to have around!

Bearon will no doubt not be in foster care long at all. So, if you are interested email: placementatragom [dot] org

I will keep you updated as we get to know this wonderful boy even better. Stay tuned :-)

Bearon has been adopted! Lizz and Jeff now have a brand new boy in their lives :) We are so happy for them all! This is another PERFECT RAGOM match made in heaven! Bearon will now be know as Yorek, he is named after the kind, brave, polar bear in "The Golden Compass". His middle name will be Bearon! Yorek Bearon fits this gorgeous guy very well. Things are going well so far in his new home. He is learning that his kitty brother Mango doesn't want to play with him :) Yet... I am still convinced he will somehow make this happen!

Bearon, you are one one those perfect fosters. One of those that was very hard to say goodbye to... IF we were looking to adopt another, Bearon would have been it! We are sad without the big boy around here smiling, and making us smile! The thing that makes it all easier is knowing that he is finally HOME! This is what we want for all of our foster dogs, and the feeling of finding that perfect home for a special, deserving dog never gets old. We love you big guy and know you will have the BEST life, and you will be so happy!

Bearon loves every day and is never anything but a pure pleasure to have around! I might just call him perfect :-) I am sorry to say that we will not be able to make the event at Chuck and Don's in Northfield on Saturday :( I am sorry to anyone that was coming out to meet him. Please email placementatragom [dot] org and we can set up a private meeting! Bear kisses just to yourself!!

I had to share a couple new photos of the cutie!

Bearon just keeps getting better and better!! He has totally settled in here and I cannot say a bad word about this boy. He is such a fantastic dog! He had another great weekend! He was able to spend his days hanging out with foster mom and dad and the rest of the crew here. And both Saturday and Sunday nights he spent meeting and playing with new dogs! He even met an 8 week old puppy and was just perfect with him :) This is one great guy :-) He loves everyone he meets, fur or no fur :)

Speaking of fur...Bear seemed to be one of those dogs that could be a big shedder... because of his very fluffy coat. Well, it turns out... he was just in need a some really good brushing. Since his professional grooming session I have noticed that he doesn't shed any more than my goldens! Speaking of Goldens... As you know, Bear is a mixed breed guy we are thinking he is possibly mixed with Great Pyrenees? But, this is only a guess. He has the Golden eyes, Golden ears, and a GOLDEN heart for sure! Plus, he is a very pretty, unique, looking dog... so it ups his coolness factor no doubt :)

Bear is just plain easy going. He is happy if you want to snuggle, or he is happy to lay by your feet. He is on the mellow side, and is never "bouncing off the walls" as some 1 yr. olds tend to do. He knows the basics: sit, down, come, and even shake :) He is the best sleeper at night. He just sleeps right next to our bed and doesn't move a muscle until we tell him... "Okay, time to get up!". He is so funny... if he thinks that you should pay some more attention to him... or to what is going on... he will let you know with a quick bark! It's like he is telling you "HEY YOU... look over here!!" Such a character! And oh so cute!

Bear is SO ready to meet that special family! I am convinced he knows that he has been rescued. (I think most rescue dogs do.) He is such a people pleaser. He only wants to make us happy! Which has been a HUGE success. We love him, and he brings a smile to my face just thinking about him. He deserves his very own family: To love him, to cherish him, to welcome him with open arms and loving hearts. If you think you are that family... let placementatragom [dot] org know! I would love to talk to you. OR, come and meet Bearon in person at the Northfield Chuck and Don's event this Saturday 4/12. We'll be there from 11-1 or so. Bear will be happy to snuggle, and will give you kisses! (you don't even have to ask!)

Happy Birthday Bearon!!! Bear turns 1 today :-) The dogs will all be treated to Frosty Paws later today, and I promise to let Bearon get as muddy as he wants romping around the backyard... so it will be a good birthday for this GREAT boy. The one thing Bearon would really like for his birthday is a family of his very own! He deserves this. He is such a fantastic dog. I am surprised that no one has expressed an interest in this guy yet! I figured I would be bombarded with interested applicants :) I can't quite figure out why I have not? Here is what I know : He is a very easy foster! He might be our easiest yet! He is friendly, happy, sweet, cute, and has no issues! I took him to the groomer earlier this week and he met some people in the waiting area... I got so many compliments on what a beautiful dog he is! Also, they said " What a FRIENDLY dog!" He just loves people! The groomer did say that he was a little too curious about the cats :) So, I am not sure at this point about placing him in a home with cats. I think if the cat was dog savvy it would be just fine. But, I will try and do more testing with this and see what I can find out. He is not hyper or wild at all, which is surprising at his age :) He is actually quite mellow in the house. As he has begun to settle in here he has shown more and more of his true personality... which is a big, mellow boy! He just melts when you start to pet him, it is adorable! He is not demanding at all of attention but will soak it up when you are giving it! He is content to lay by your feet. He has been trying out the couch, and likes that too! He takes treats like an angel. A young child could give him a treat and he would gently take it. He walks perfectly on a gentle leader, and loves his walks. He is perfect in the car. GREAT will all other dogs. He has been left up to 8 hours with free roam and is perfect. He loves to romp around in the yard and always has a smile on his face! Bearon has two main requirements: A fence. And, someone that is willing to continue his obedience training. Oh, and LOVE!! (I guess that is 3 !) Email placementatragom [dot] org if you would like to meet this wonderful, gem of a dog. He would love to be your companion and friend! Whoever takes a chance on this boy will be very lucky! This is one GREAT dog!

Bearon has now been with us for a couple days and is just so much fun to have around! Bear is a very easy foster dog. He would fit into almost any household. He is almost that perfect "move in ready" type guy :) The one thing he does still need is some training, but he is incredibly smart and I know that he would train very easily. He could probably be trained to do just about anything... he is that good! Bearon LOVES to play with our Gracie girl (maybe it's because she is a RAGOM girl herself... or maybe just because they are both 1 yr olds!!). They wrestle and run in the backyard (fenced) for as long as I will let them! Then, they come in and take a long snooze and repeat :-) I was one person that was thankful for the snow yesterday... one day off from the muddy dogs and the multiple baths :-) The nice thing is that Bear sits like a prince for a bath, and brushing, and toenail clipping! Bearon has a VERY full, fluffy, and beautiful coat... his forever home will need to love to brush him! He loves it, and it really cuts down on his shedding.

Bear is a really sweet, energetic, and happy boy! He is ready for his forever home! I would like his forever home to have a fence. Since he was surrendered for running, I feel this would be best. Plus he really enjoys being outdoors and running, sniffing, and playing in the backyard here. He would do best in an active family that would love to take him for walks, hikes, jog, trips to the dog park or cabin! He rides really well in the car :) and he seems to love the water! He seeks out the puddles on our walks and in our yard and dives right in! He is my first foster dog that hasn't wanted to be on the couch at all! Which is allowed (and encouraged) here! So, he would do just fine in a home that doesn't want their furry friends on the furniture. My husband did say that he jumped up in my spot in bed last night... before I came down to go to sleep. This was a first :) He has slept both nights here right next to our bed on a dog bed on the floor without a peep.

He has had free roam with our dogs during the work day and has been totally fine. He is completely house trained and does not chew on anything inappropriate. He does jump up a little when he gets excited. And he is very tall... so he doesn't really have to jump up to see what is on the counter! He can just reach and grab... which he has tried :-) So, foster mom has to keep the counters clean! As I have said before, he would fit in just about anywhere! He has so much love to give!
