This morning we had to help Zeeva over the Rainbow Bridge. She lived 10 years but eventually liver cancer took its toll.

She was a joy to have in our home and we will miss her.

Rest in peace, Zeeva.

Zeeva helped us see another foster sibling, Jethro 20-147, to his forever home! She is good at making a new dog feel comfortable and showing them the ropes during their temporary stay. As you can see though, she is also comfortable having all the toys to herself!

Zeeva continues to enjoy life! Her morning routine is to sleep as late as her humans allow, eat breakfast, take her pain pill wrapped in liver sausage, mooch whatever little breakfast bits she can get from foster Dad and then go for a walk. Like any deserving Goldendoodle, she spends the rest of the day at her leisure. She is such a sweetie!

Two weeks ago, we helped Zeeva’s foster brother Chief 18-126 over the rainbow bridge. She actually seemed a bit lost and depressed after that but has since bounced back. We have established a new routine for her that includes daily walks. One to two miles do not bother her torn ACL and she absolutely loves them!

Here are some pictures of Zeeva in our yard and out on the Gateway Trail.

Zeeva has been with us for 2½ months. She immediately got along with her foster brother Chief 18-126. They seem to have no boundaries and even interchange food bowls and marrow bones. Zeeva loves to be a part of the pack and takes pets as much as she can get them. She has excellent house manners with free roam when we are gone.

After Zeeva came into RAGOM she was initially scheduled for surgery to repair a torn ACL, but pre-op blood work exposed elevated liver enzyme levels. This eventually led to a diagnosis of liver cancer.

This is heartbreaking news but Zeeva will be in good hands as a treasured member of the RAGOM family. Ironically, Chief is also a hospice foster dog. As with most Goldens they seem to be the ultimate optimists no matter the physical challenges, enjoying each day as it comes.
