Profile

Zoe was surrendered to RAGOM when her family moved and could not bring her along. Zoe tested positive for Lyme's disease. She is quickly learning how to live as an indoor dog. Zoe loves children and can live with children of any age. She requires another confident dog to give her guidance and comfort. Zoe is a high energy dog, so a physical fence is required to give her a safe space to burn off that energy. Zoe is looking for an active family that will give her plenty of exercise and training.

Zoe has been adopted by a fun family and an older Golden Retriever brother in Des Moines, Iowa. They have a large back yard where Zoe can chase squirrels and run around with her brother.

Her new family enjoys long evening walks. They spend their weekends outside playing, hiking, and exploring local parks.

Zoe will be treated as one of the family members with her own dog bed and all the toys she will ever want. Her new extended family already loves her and can't wait to spoil her as well. Zoe is the perfect addition to their family!

Since Zoe's last update, she got to experience trick or treaters. She loved seeing all the kids at the door. She did really well sitting and letting them pet her. She loved dressing up. She liked wearing a costume with Watson.

We surprised her with her own squirrel toy; she loves watching them outside so it seemed like the perfect toy. She was beside herself. She takes it with her to all parts of the house. She likes to sit in the window and watch real squirrels with her squirrel.

Zoe recently went through her spay treatment and did really well. She doesn't like having to rest and not getting to go for a walk and play in the yard. Even with the cooler temperatures it hasn't stopped her from wanting to be active outside.

Zoe has been making herself more and more comfortable during her third week in our home. She got to have a slumber party for the weekend at another foster's home and she did so well. During that visit we realized how much she strives to have a leader in the house, and it is clear she needs another dog to show her guidance.

Zoe has gotten better about going outside on her own, but she prefers when our resident dog Watson goes with her.

Zoe has met the squirrels that live in our neighborhood and likes to make sure they stay in line while she is in the yard. She loves to sit under the tree and watch them. Zoe will bolt after a squirrel while on a walk, and that is definitely something we are starting to work on her new family will need to continue. She is small but very strong.

Another thing we have been working on is jumping. She greets everyone by jumping up on them. She is getting better but still needs some work.

We recently moved a plant that was in front of a window while cleaning and Zoe has now claimed that as her spot. She loves to look outside and see what is going on. She brings all her toys to that spot and sets her favorites on the window ledge.

Zoe came into RAGOM after primarily being an outdoor dog. So there have been some adjustments to being an indoor dog.

Zoe has a lot of energy. She constantly enjoys playing with toys, playing fetch, and chasing squirrels in the backyard. If we let her she could sit under a tree in our yard all night watching the squirrels.

Zoe loves going for walks as well. Once she is tired she does love to snuggle on the couch with the humans and the resident dog. She prefers your lap over the couch though!

Some adjustments that have been hard for Zoe have been going outside on her own without a human. Even with the resident dog she seems worried she will be left outside and not allowed in. She sleeps well in her kennel, with a little anxiety that we are leaving her when we go to bed ourselves. She has done well learning that she needs to tell us to go outside to go potty.

Zoe is looking for an active family that will take her on walks and play a lot of fetch with her inside and outside. She needs someone that is patient and understanding with her high energy level. She is still very much a puppy.
