Profile

Lobo is a good-looking, reddish 10-year-old boy who came to RAGOM along with his sister Zoey. Although they had been beloved pets all of their lives, their owner could no longer care for them. Lobo is very quiet and sweet. He has a pronounced limp due to lameness in his right rear leg. He has tested positive for Lyme's disease and it currently on antibiotics. He is also getting an anti-inflammatory to help with his arthritis. The vet said that he should take 20-minute walks each day to keep his muscles in tone. Despite his limp, he likes to follow me around the house. He LOVES petting! He has had free roam at my house and has been a perfect gentleman. He can't jump on the bed because of his back leg, so has slept on the floor or dog bed. Like most seniors he loves to nap. Since he and Zoey are a bonded pair, I hope to place them in the same forever home.

Sweet Lobo just barely made it into 2016 before crossing the Rainbow Bridge. Last night he ate a full dinner, which made me happy as his appetite has not been the best. This morning he and Zoey went outside just as normal. Lobo turned down a treat, but that was the only thing that was unusual.

An hour or so later I noticed that he was breathing in puffs, then panting. He got up and laid next to my bed and that was the last time that he walked. He kept panting and his tongue was very pale. I took him to the emergency vet.

The vet said that Lobo was in shock and had lost a lot of blood probably due to a ruptured tumor. Lobo was in bad shape and surgery would have been hard on him with no guarantees. I could not put Lobo through that, so we helped him cross the bridge. Even though I only had him for a short time, I think it was love at first sight for me. I am so very sad to have lost him.

I am attaching the last photos that I took of him. He was so adorable when he covered his eyes with his paws.

His sister Zoey and I are missing him very much.
