Hi everyone, Tika here! I am doing really well in my foster home, but I would really like to find a home of my own soon. I love going on walks, getting my belly rubbed, running in a fenced in area, getting the zoomies for a few minutes inside, and burying my face in any snow I can find. My foster mom said I must have lots of insulation with all my fur because she is outside shivering and telling me to do my business, but all I want to do is roll around and play some more. Can you blame me?

There are two kids here, and I am excellent with them. I also get along well with a dog named Roxy who lives here. She knows when she is in my space, and I need a bit of breathing room. There is another dog here though that I do not get along very well with. He gets all nervous when I am around and then I feel like I need to show him who is boss. He doesn’t like that much. My foster family said that my first foster home didn’t have any other pets, and I was the perfect dog there. I can’t decide if I want another dog to play with or would rather have a house all to myself.

Tika is really a fantastic dog and is very ready to get started on his new life. He is all up to date on his vaccinations and has no medical issues at all. He had one ear infection and that is all cleared up. He LOVES to go on walks. If his forever family doesn’t have a fenced in yard, they would need to be committed to bringing him on walks each day. Tika would also benefit from obedience classes. Right now I would not trust him at a dog park, until more is learned about how he interacts with other dogs and why he gets along with some dogs and not others. He has very loving eyes that just seem to talk to you and he would enjoy belly rubs all day if you would give them to him! Please contact your placement advisor if you are interested in Tika at all! I would love to talk to you and answer any questions you might have to see if he may be a fit or not. He will be a great family pet to a very lucky family!

Tika also slept in his crate without a peep last night and we have used it on and off as a place to relax when he needs it. His current requirement is that a fence is required. Because we don't know a lot about his background and he is a VERY fast runner, we think that would be best. However, if you have a safe way to have him run somewhere else in a fenced in area and can always keep him on a leash or tie-out when you are outside with him, we could consider that. Tika would always then need someone with him outside and couldn't be left alone on a tie out. I can't say enough how impressed we are with Tika's temperament. He is just an awesome dog and will make a family very happy! He so deserves the good life and can't wait to meet a family of his own! Tika is currently checked out to a family, but he needs to be "cat approved" for them. We will keep you posted on Tika's story!
