Oliver is a very smart, happy and well behaved dog. He is doing his best to take the place of Bear who we lost to cancer a year ago. He is getting along really well with resident Sasha. And he is doing a great job acting as host for RAGOM fosters Moose 15-014 and Taffy 15-015. Oliver loves dinner time and treats. He will come in the house and sit by the food dishes until I fill them. He has also decided that he very much likes popcorn. (3 photos of Oliver and Sasha and one photo of Oliver and Taffy.)

RAGOM foster failure Oliver joined our family in November 2014 at the age of 7. As a rescue you don’t always know the whole story. Oliver had two possessions from his previous life. A ceramic dish that says “Good Boy” and the stuffed Charlie Brown shown in this picture.
In June of 2015 we moved to Grand Marais MN. Oliver enjoyed playing ball and walks in the woods. He loved people, but loved being outside most of all. He claimed the largest pile of snow as his own and would plop right down in Lake Superior every chance he got.
Two weeks ago we were told that his time with us was limited. We enjoyed the time we had left playing ball and just being together. He had the perfect golden disposition and was a pro at the golden nudge. The house has been quiet and the other dogs are still a bit subdued. Rest In Peace, Oliver “smiley pants.”

Oliver has been with us for a little over a week, but it didn't take that long to realize that he was going to be the newest member of the family. It was this time last year that I had to put my own 7 year old golden down due to cancer. Oliver's presence seems to make that void easier to tolerate.
He is very calm, minds well and gets along with the other pets in the household; a 4 year old female golden and a sassy 3 year old tabby cat.

Original Initial Bio:
Oliver James was surrendered to RAGOM by a loving family due to the allergies of a 3 month old child. It was very obvious that he had been well cared for and loved for the first seven years of his life and that the decision to surrender him was a difficult one.
Oliver was a great traveller on the transport to his foster home and is generally a very happy, quiet dog. He met the resident golden easily and the playing soon ensued. Oliver seems interested in the resident cat, but not overly so.
Oliver is fully house trained, likes to chew on bones and tennis balls, but hasn't chewed on anything inappropriate. He was a hit at the vet for his RAGOM checkup. He is at a good weight of 75 pounds and although his records indicate hip displasia, the vet didn't see any signs and recommended no treatment.
As I said, he is a very respectful houseguest. He likes to roll in the snow, play fetch for a few minutes a day and get some attention regularly. If those needs are met he is willing to nap at your feet. Whenever I address him by name he gets a big smile on his face so I have taken to calling him smiley pants.
