Introducing Lady. Lady is a honorary Golden that was surrendered to RAGOM because her family was moving and couldn't bring her with them. She is said to be a Chocolate Lab and Chesapeake mix, but only a DNA test could confirm that.

Lady is 11 years old (DOB 10/16/2002). She was spayed as a pup. She is in pretty good health. She is heartworm and Lyme Disease negative. She did have some hookworms and has received the first of 3 treatments for them. Lady does have some arthritis and is out of shape. She weighed in at 78 lbs and could stand to loose 8-10 lbs or possibly more. Lady's senior blood work came back good other than an elevated white blood cell count. Lady's teeth are worn or broken and she has inflamed gums. She is scheduled to get her teeth cleaned and X--rays with possible extractions. Her teeth and gums are likely causing the elevated white blood cell count.

Lady had rarely had any supervised exercise her whole life and doesn't have much strength at this point. On our first walks, she could hardly go 100 feet without sitting down to rest. We are now up to close to a mile with only several rest stops. Lots of improvement in a short time. I expect to double that distance in the next couple weeks.

Lady met my resident girl, Belle (11 years old), and my other foster girl, Skylee 14-136 (17 months), with no problems. Lady also met my 3 house cats with no problems. One of the cats will cuddle with her sometimes. It took Lady several days to really start wanting to be part of the pack here and get used to the regular routine. Lady does come and seek attention. She loves being petted and will dance back and forth on her front legs while getting petted.

There is lots more to learn about this sweet senior girl. Do you think Lady could be the dog for you? Contact your placement adviser to find out.

First, a big thanks to the folks who made donations on Lady's behalf! We really appreciate it.

Lady got to spend Christmas and New Year's Day up at the cabin. I think she thought the skating was pretty interesting, and she also enjoyed the ice fishing. She continues to enjoy her walks and hanging with our Golden.

Lady has a very mellow and happy personality, always wagging her tail, very interested in whatever you are doing. She will make a great companion for someone looking for a dog who doesn't need a ton of exercise, but loves to hang out with you.

She is a sweetie and her name fits her!

Lady is now being fostered in St Paul. She lives with our resident Golden and they are already great buddies. Lady loves people and is happy just hanging around with us. I don’t think her tail ever stops wagging. We took her to the vet and got her on some medicine to help with her arthritis pain which seems to have helped. Lady would do great with some retired folks who are home to give her lots of attention. She likes to go on walks, but doesn't play with toys. Lady is the sweetest dog ever!

Hi, fans, Lady here.

FD (Foster Dad) thought I should start doing my own updates since he has fallen behind on them. Since my last update, I had a birthday. I'm 12 years young now.

I am gaining strength and stamina. Another bonus is that I am losing weight also. I am now walking a total of 4 miles a day in two trips. That's a lot further than the few hundred feet when I came here.

I really like the good food and the supplements I'm getting. FD is giving me fish oil and glucosamine/chondroitin. The supplements help my joints work better. My treatments for hookworms are done and I will be rechecked soon to be sure they are all gone. I also was back to the vet and had my teeth X-rayed and cleaned. Thankfully, there were no bad ones that needed to get pulled. They are nice and white and my breath is better. Hopefully my elevated white blood cell count will improve also.

FD thought I should try to describe my personality. I am a very typical senior. I like to just hang out close to my people. I come for pets and hugs. I really like being rubbed all over. I haven't had any problems with the other dogs here or the neighbor dogs. No problems with the kitties either. One of them will come and cuddle with me sometimes. I don't get into garbage or chew anything I shouldn't. I don't really know any commands but I do come when called. FD says I am very happy most of the time and very glad to finally be living in a house. I don't fetch or play any other games. I am a very good companion.
