I'd like to Introduce Lexi, a beautiful 9 month old pure bred female Golden Retriever. Lexi comes to RAGOM from a breeder who has retired and has trusted us to find wonderful, loving homes for his dogs. Lexi is a sweet, 55 pound girl who loves other dogs, humans and life!!  She is current on vaccines, is microchipped and will be spayed in another week or two.  She did go into heat just a week after arriving at my house, so her spay surgery was postponed a couple of weeks.

She has been in foster care for a few weeks and has adjusted very quickly to living in a house and learning the rules that go along with living as an inside dog.  Lexi has only had one accident in the house and that was when I was busy visiting with a friend and did not notice her signal that she needed to go outside.  She willingly goes into her crate when I leave for work and while she barks for a minute or two when I leave, she is quiet until she hears me come home.  Lexi loves to play with the resident dogs and with my other 9 month old foster, Jessie 13-324.  They are just 3 days apart in age and have been wonderful teachers and companions for each other.

It only took Lexi a couple of hours to master the stairs and coming in and out of the house.  She quickly learned that the couch is a nice comfy spot for naps and that toys are great to chew on and play with.  Snuggling with humans on the couch or in the bed is great in her book and running and wrestling with her foster siblings is on the top of her list of fun things to do.

Lexi is still a puppy even though she is almost full grown in size.  She is still testing out what is appropriate to chew on, so towels and rugs have been put up for now so the temptation is minimal.  She loves to chew on Nylabones, beef bones and fleece ropes.  She is also learning that all 4 feet need to remain on the floor and that mouthing hands and arms is not an acceptable method of play. She does redirect very quickly and is doing well with learning manners.  She is not a counter surfer but will put her paws on the counter when I am getting treats out of the treat jar. We are working on learning to sit and to keep those paws on the floor.  Lexi would love someone to take her to obedience school so she can learn to be the best dog and companion.

She does need another confident dog in her forever home so she can continue to grow in confidence and experience.  Children over the age of 10 would be best since she is still learning not to jump up or mouth hands. A fenced yard would be nice but is not a requirement as she does have good recall. She will run to me if she is frightened by a loud noise or will run to the door if she is outside and something frightens her. She will need consistant daily exercise since she is a young dog and will need to burn off some of her young dog energy!!  Walking on leash is new to Lexi as is riding in the car, so we are exposing her to lots of short walks and car rides so she gains experience and confidence.  All is going very well.

Lexi is ready to meet her new family even though she needs to be spayed before she can officially be adopted.  Please contact your placement adviser if lovely Lexi sounds like a good match for your family.

Hi everyone, it's me Lexi and I have fantastic news to share with all of you. I'm adopted!!! I had a busy couple of weeks. First some nice ladies came to meet my best friend Jessie and they took her home with them so she could have her own forever family. I was kind of sad when she left as we played and hung out together all the time.  But foster mom kept me busy.I got to go to two meet and greets and had a super great time. I love meeting people and other dogs and everyone was so surprised how social and happy I am. At one of the meet and greets a very special family came just to see me. They really liked me and said they thought I was just the type of dog they were looking for. The are a busy family and wanted a dog that was an extrovert.......foster mom says that describes me pretty well.

A couple days later the family that met me at the meet and greet came to my foster house to spend some time with me. I showed them all my tricks, like chewing on jacket sleeves, pulling at clothes and mouthing hands and arms. Foster mom told them to go home and think about if they really wanted to take on a puppy in an adult body.....cause that's what she says I am. Well, turns out the family knew before they even left my foster house that they wanted me but they made sure to think about it and then let foster mom know they wanted me and were sure they could work with me to help me learn proper manners and keep me safe. I heard foster mom say I will be going to obedience school very soon....don't know what that is but if there are other dogs and people there, I will enjoy it.

On Saturday I went to another meet and greet and got to see Santa. I did not have to tell Santa my Christmas wish as I knew my Christmas wish was already coming true......my very own forever family was coming to pick me up the very next day!!!

So now I am in my forever home. I have three human brothers, one is in college but two are home and will give me lots of attention and play with me. I also have a really nice mom and dad and a canine brother to keep me company. My new folks said I am doing well in my new house and already took a nice long walk with my brothers, both human and canine.

I am very happy to have my very own forever family and love living in a house with people. Thank you RAGOM for making my Christmas wish come true.

Your friend Lexi.
