Baxter and his littermate, Brody 13-328, are 12-week-old purebred male Golden Retriever puppies. Their mom is from the group of Pine River dogs that were seized. The pups were born at the Animal Humane Society and they did a fantastic job getting them socialized. Baxter is neutered and microchipped, and current on vaccines and preventatives, and he has been wormed. He is a healthy, happy, social puppy.

Baxter here! Boy, oh boy, I’m having the best time here! I know lots of big boy things like sit, down, and shake. FM says I’m pretty mellow for a puppy. She calls me “Sleepie” because when she opens the crate to let us out in the morning, I am sooooo sleepy. She used to carry me out sometimes because I was so sleepy. I’m getting too big for that now, so when she opens the crate, I lay on my back until she crawls in to give me tummy rubs and good morning kisses.

Chilling out with a chewy

Taking a little snoozy nap

My brother is my best friend and I love to play with him. We chase each other around and wrestle. I learn something new every day! I just learned how to jump up on the couch to chill out with my FM, and last night Brody and me played a new game: we jumped from the loveseat to the couch, and did zoomies through the living room and into the TV room, and jumped up on that couch. It was so much fun!

Me and Brody wrestling

We love to explore!

I’m finding all kinds of fun things to do, like finding dead mice in the yard, and chewing on cupboard knobs while FM is making dinner. I chew on just about everything--the cat's scratch post, the front of the couch, shoes, the edge of the bath mat when she is getting ready in the morning. She sticks something else in front of me and I just start chewing on that. FM says I’m like a two-year-old who needs lots of attention. I heard her tell somebody that me and Brody are very time-consuming, whatever that means. Oh ya, and I just learned selective hearing and it's really working for me!

If you have lots of time to work with me while I’m still a puppy, I will be your best friend. I’m very lovey and can’t wait to find my very own forever home.

My little sweetie Baxter went home today. He has another Golden Retriever to show him the ropes and play with him, a human sister, and two 16-year-old brothers who are totally in love with him!

I'd like to thank the folks at the Animal Humane Society for doing such a fantastic job with Baxter and his brother Brody. When they came here they were 8 weeks old and the best dogs--well-socialized and happy boys. They did a great job caring for them and loving them up those first two months. I'd also like to thank Annie's 13-316 (their mom) foster mom, and Bridget's 13-325 (their littermate) foster mom for helping me find such fantastic families for my boys. Finally thanks to the other fosters with Pine River dogs--what a wonderful group of people!

Baxter has his very own family and home. Yaaaay, Baxter!
