09/22/2013:
Here is Ginger, a beautiful 8-year-old Golden Retriever who just recently arrived in our home for foster care. Ginger came from our over populated humane society here in Sioux Falls, SD. This is one fantasic Golden girl. What we know to date about her in her short stay with us is:
- She is smaller, at 61# and is current on all her vaccinations and microchipped
- She will be spayed next week
- She is doing fantastic with our 2 resident dogs and 3 cats
- She does not like a crate, however, does fine with free roam and respects babygates
- She enjoys rides in the car
- She walks very nice and has plenty of energy and does well for 1-2 miles
- She is housetrained
- Loves love, loves her human
- Takes treats gently
- Does not need another dog
- Enjoys fetch
Wow, what a super all-around girl. We were very amazed at how respecting she was/is of our resident dogs and cats. She enjoys our fenced-in yard and laying in the sun. She will play fetch and bring the ball back to you and sit (most of the time!). She handles a full flight of stairs with ease and she listens very well. It is evident that there was a good earlier beginning of her life as she is very social, and also, that there was much neglect as she does not really want to be left. When we first got her, we patiently tried to crate her, but no go. Probably was left in one for long periods of time. What a story the rescued RAGOM dogs could tell. She is just such a lovely, smaller, bright girl.
She will be spayed next week and then good to go to “her” new beginning in life, a wonderful life as a rescued Golden of RAGOM. Ginger will make just an outstanding companion. She has that Golden ‘wiggle’ too.
