Hi RAGOM friends & family....I'm here, I'm here!! My name is Buddy & I'm a 12-week-old purebred Golden Retriever. I made the long trip from my old home where I lived with a very special lady (foster mommy said she's a breeder) & when she found out how special I am (I have a heart condition) she contacted RAGOM to find me a very special special family. I am now staying with my foster family & they have 5 furry dog friends & 2 very odd furry critters called cats, plus I get 3 kids to share until I find my forever home.

Foster mommy took me took the vet where the nice lady said I weighed almost 25 pounds, gave me some yucky puppy shots & medicine & then did lots of poking & prodding...I didn't mind, though, cuz it was just like a funny belly rub. She said I have something called aortic stenosis which sounds really bad, but I get to see somebody called a cardiologist to help find out how to best help me grow big & strong. I already had something called an echo where they shaved part of my belly & then took special pictures of my heart to see how it works. The vet lady told foster mommy that it means something really bad if some number is bigger than 100, but mine was only 60, so maybe it's not as bad as we think. We'll find out more on Tuesday, so please keep me in your thoughts & prayers.

I am a special little guy that needs a little extra vet care right now. RAGOM doesn't mind helping me at all cuz that's just what they do but if you think I'm adorable & want to help take care of me, I'm sure they wouldn't mind some extra help.

Time for bed,

The Budster

Updates

Friday, July 26, 2013

It's the little Budster here again. Foster mom says I gotta get off the bench & quit my playing around by writing my own update...so here goes.

It's been a fun couple of weeks. I got to go to the vet again (I really like Dr Megan & Dr Pete), but this time it wasn't as fun. First, they shaved my belly & made me take a nice nap & the next thing ya know I wake up & things feel weird "down there" & I have the cone of shame on. Foster mommy said I got neutered & says it really should be called a cone of bravery in my case cuz I did so well. I also grew a lot & am up to 32 pounds of pure fun & cuteness now, plus I got a couple more shots & my microchip thingamabob. All in all, it was a long day & I was happy to get home for some special snuggle time.

I am just loving life here in the country. I love to run around with the big dogs & am still trying to get the boys to play with me. My foster brother Checotah is obsessed with his tennis ball & is really fast & good at catching it & bringing it back...he's trying to teach me too. I'm lower to the ground yet & have a little speed & agility on him, but he wins at bringing it back. Last week, I caught my very own froggy & thought it'd be good to play with, but foster mommy put the kabosh on that. I also discovered that picking raspberries is a blast. My foster family has a really big berry patch & it's fun to sneak around in the bushes & eat the berries off the branches. Sometimes I'm so quiet & it's fun to scare foster mommy by brushing up against her legs when she isn't expecting it & she thinks I'm a big bug!

Potty training is going well, but I still need a little work. Sometimes when I need to go outside, I go stand by the sliding door, but nobody sees me there & I can't wait forever, ya know. I'm good about holding it through the night & sometimes my family needs to wake me up in the morning, instead of the other way around. I really like the kitties here too. I like to chase Simone, but Sophie & I have worked out a truce....if she pretends I'm not there, then I just leave her be, but if she says tag, you're it, then it's game on. My feathering is starting to come in & I have this funny little curl on my tail that is kinda backwards, so sometimes I have to run in circles trying to catch it & straighten it out. I hope the kitties aren't watching then!

I heard foster mommy & daddy talking & they say I am the best puppy ever....sometimes they think I am made of Mexican jumping beans, but I get in such LITTLE trouble that I've set the bar pretty high for their next foster doggy. Which, speaking of, they're surprised some wonderful family hasn't snatched me up yet. Yeah, I know...everyone is worried about my heart....but let me tell you, life is too short no matter what, so I'm going to just enjoy life as much as I can for as long as I can.

It takes special people to help RAGOM succeed in rescuing Goldens, so a great big thank-you & a wet slobbery kiss go out to Curtis & Elizabeth G for being my sponsors. You guys ROCK!!
