Jessie 13-164

Profile

Jessie is 5, soon to be 6 years old, medium golden, on the small side (about 50lbs), and a sweetheart. When one first looks at Jessie, you think she is not full grown, still a puppy, until you notice the little gray on her face. Jessie came to RAGOM after being rescued by the vet Jessie's owner asked to euthenize her because she digs. Jessie was obviously an outdoor dog prior to her rescue. She was afraid to come into the house and nervous walking on the different flooring in the house. In the two weeks of having Jessie, we have learned that she loves to chase the ball, play with the other dogs, especially chase, and be around her people. She enjoys playing and still is very active but yet is calm in the house. The only digging Jessie has down is her "place." Apparently expecting to be outside, she found a nice corner to become hers, dug down just a bit for a nice cool and safe place to be. The first few days when she went out, I would find her laying in this same spot like it was her new home. Luckily, she is now more easy in the house and prefers to be inside with everyone else now. Jessie has not had any accidents inside the house, even though she has had run of the house while we are at work. She follows us around and sleeps on the floor beside the bed. Jessie likes to watch the cat, but the cat mostly keeps her distance, so it has not been a very good test of Jessie around cats. Jessie will be spayed on 6/20 and is otherwise healthy. I have not observed her around children. She does well on a walk, pulling for the first block but then does well. She has met several people and dogs (tiny dogs all the way up to a Great Dane) on her walk and greets and behaves well with all she met. Jessie would love a home with a fenced-in yard (she is very interested in the front gate, and I do not get good vibes on her sticking around if she had an opportunity to run off) and another dog to play with her.

Jessie is settling into her foster home; she is less nervous coming into the house and walking on the tile and wood floors much more easily. Jessie was spayed June 20 with no problems, and is now back to running after her ball and playing with the resident Goldens. Jessie is great in the house while we are gone - no destruction and no accidents. She rarely barks, and when she does, it is a soft sounding bark. She is very sweet and loves to be by her people and receive hugs. She is a pleasure and very easy to have around. Jessie gets excited at walk time, and while new to water, she seems okay going in and splashing through the knee-high flooded trail. Jessie has not done any digging after her first day of clearing a place to lay down in the corner. Jessie is still looking for a loving home where she can get lots of attention and has someone to throw her ball.
